Ok, I am in England, and I downloaded 2 final fantasy games today from the wii virtual console - final fantasy 2 and final fantasy 3, both originally released for the snes. However, I did some research, and I found out that, in the UK, final fantasy 2 and final fantasy 3 are actually final fantasy 4 and 6 respectively... so my question is... which games have I downloaded? Is it 2 and 3, or is it 4 and 6? So confused!

You said they're SNES titles, so they're going to have to be FF4 and FF6.

And you're half right, the two games were originally released in the States as FF2 and FF3 - they never did localise the actual FF2, FF3 and FF5 at the time, so they decided to rename the ones they did localise to make it seem less confusing to American consumers.

Then FF7 suddenly came out anyway, some people got confused, and then even more people are/were confused when they realised that they were screwed around with a confusing numbering system of the SNES releases that kind of did more harm than good.

Just in case you're still not too sure:

If the game begins with a fleet of airships and a dark knight in there somewhere, it is FF4. Originally released as FF2.

If the game begins with a green-haired woman and two guys riding Magitek armour going into a town and blasting resistance, it's FF6. Originally released as FF3.

Thanks for letting me know :) Yeah I thought that was the case. Confusing stuff lol

yh i first read that about that american stuff it really confused.. but yh it most prob ffiv and ffvi cuz FFII was released on the nes and FFIII didn't get a release until it came out on the ds in the uk soooo yh really confusing XD
