I have an essay due tomorrow that I procrastinated all the way till now.

My question is, how do you INTERNALLY CITE a website in MLA format? That is, a site that has no author.

I suspect you just do the title of the website page and then put 1 as the page number like so: (Stereotypes About Women 1).

And if I do that, am I allowed to abbreviate the title after the first time or no? What I mean is this: (SAW 1).

SAW = Stereotypes About Women

And if I can abbreviate, did I do it correctly? Or does it have to be: (S.A.W. 1).

?

Well, I found this:

Citing the Internet:

Follow the general format below. Omit the author name if it is not available. Internet site name is the name of the site publishing the information; it is not the address or URL.

  • If you have an Internet article with no author and a site name:
"Making Treatment Decisions." American Cancer Society. 2005. 23 Aug. 2005 <http://www.cancer.org/docroot/ETO/ETO_0.asp>.
  • If you have an Internet article with no author and no publication date:
"Emergencies & Disasters." U.S. Department of Homeland Security. (n.d.) 17 Aug. 2005 <http://www.dhs.gov/dhspublic/theme_home2.jsp>.

Those are examples. And as far as I know, you should never abbreviate the title after the first time. I've seen many essay papers done in MLA format, but never saw any titles abbreviated in the upper right-hand corner...

Thanks, but I meant internal citation, not citation for the Works Cited page. Meaning, citing the sources IN my essay. Like say you wanted to include a quote from Upton Sinclair's The Jungle. You would cite it like so:

"Blah blah blah quote here" (Sinclair 78).

Last name of the author and the page number saving the period after the parentheses. My question is how to cite a source like this... BUT its from the internet, has no author, but only the title.
