hate or pity Aeris? (SPOILER)

I knew about her death before playing it, stupid review magazine lol. i cherished the time with Aeris, i know sounds corny. But I liked her character and yes i did take her on a date. I used her in battle as much as possible, even thought I knew what was coming lol.

I only disliked her at first because I was getting pissed because it looked like she was stealing Cloud away from Tifa, but then I realized that wasn't really the case, and after that, I just absolutely loved her character.

...And the fact that she dies kind of made me forgive her grievance anyways >_<

I don't think I pity her though. She died, but she knew she would die. She chose her death as a martyr to protect the planet, so I can't think of her as a victim.

(Although Holy kind of fucking up in the end and made it seem her death was in vain, but the thing with the lifestream was probably guided by her will, I think...)

And after finding out about Zack, I can see it that the two lovers met in eternity~

I did try to use her a lot before her eventual end in my subsequent playthroughs. Her final limitbreak Great Gospel has been called the "god mode" of the game, and though you don't really need that limitbreak in Disc 1, I always try to get it for her anyways.

I used the crap out of Aerith before she died. I always chose the right thing to say to her so I would go on that date with her, except one play through because I wanted to go on the date with Barrett. But anyways, Aerith was always on my team up until her death, along with of course Cloud, and then Vincent, since he is my favorite.

I definitely pity her, especially after beating Crisis Core. Between what happens to her in that game, and then her untimely demise in VII, pity is probably the best word.

I did pity her. I mean, she really did not have a choice in the matter because she knew she had to activate holy.

Her final goodbye to Cloud always makes me sad? :( And in recent playthroughs, Cid promising to take her on an airship makes me said too because we know that is never going to happen.

Aerith also did not have an easy life at all. She spent most of it being experimented on by Shinra and then later always running away from the Turks.

Aerith was not my favorite character, nor did I really care for her. But I did kinda pity her and I certainly didn't hate her.

As Rydia said she had a pretty hard life, and she didn't really give me a reason to hate her.

I HATE AERITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the only reason i like her is that she is a healer that is it other than that i depise her i am glad Sephiroth killed her(even though he made me die in numerous battles without her :()I think Tifa is a better match for Cloud anyway.

I must admit that I didn't like Aerith at the start of the game, seeing as how she was such a flirt all of the time and she didn't seem to care about Tifa's obvious feelings for Cloud. Like Fusionist though, I came to realize the reasons behind her behaviour, and from that point on I loved her. I used her in my party as a healer all the way up until her death, and despite the fact that I knew of it before-hand, it was still heart-breaking to watch her get slaughtered by Sephie.

I didn't really pity Aerith as far as her death goes because it was her decision to try and activate Holy, despite the risks. I always got the feeling that she knew she what awaited her in the temple as well, yet she still went. I do, however, pity the lost love she and Zack had. After playing Crisis Core and seeing the future she and him could have had together, it's sad to think about how tragically things ended for both of them. She's in the lifestream with Zack I know, but that still doesn't make up for the fact that they never really got to be together when they were alive.

I avoided using Aerith as much as possible. She can be easily replaced with a few well-chosen magic materia, unless you go COMPLETELY out of your way to get her best Limit Break and level her other LBs so she can use it. I mean, you don't even need it for anything you can find on Disc One, so her Limit Break is not the best, but actually the worst. :|

Anyway, I dislike Aerith because she was so... I dunno, she just got on my nerves. "Hey Cloud you owe me a date lawl. 8D TIFA?! Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know at all that you were in there. Mwahahaha."

Evil little dolt. >:[

I always thought this That Tifa and Aerith were enemies but after I watched Advent Children toward the end when tifa looks at the Raindrop in the Airship they were on she said"I always knew you were there thank you"or something like that it made it clear they werent enemies but friends.

I used her every now and then, but honestly, I didn't include her in my party often since I knew she wouldn't be around to the very end.

It has nothing to do with how I feel about her character.

I never get how people can say she was weak in battle. I'm replaying the game at the moment and she is my strongest character, doing more damage than anyone. Seriously, don't load her down with materia and stick her in the front row
I always tend to have her in my party as she is my favourite character from the game and generally my best fighter.

Aerith is actually quite a decent fighter, but an excellent character, I had her in my party the first time around along with barrett (pity tha fool :p)

if you are a completist (like me) she easily becomes insanley overpowered on disk 1 (great gospel is the reason why full status cure and invincible for 2 minutes, more than enough to destroy most bosses if she did actually survive throughout the whole game)

the demon wall was total cake if you treat aerith like a battle cleric (fight on the front line, use white magic based materias with alls and hp/mp plus materias) she can even do him over solo with great gospel :p

Was I upset when she died? not as much as some people but sure I was, FF7 really hit the nail on the head with creating attachment to your characters which made it all the more interesting!

The first time I palyed I picked Aeris for the date because she was just better than tifa. Alive or dead still better.:highfive:

MOD EDIT

Please put more effort into your post. The forum would consider this spam. Why do you like Aerith better than Tifa?

I must ask, Pinky, why is it in the three times I have seen you now, twice at Gamefaqs and once here, you have found the inevitable need to compare Aerith to Tifa? Can both woman not stand on their own? Is Aerith so weak of character in your eyes that she must be elevated at the expense of another, instead of on her own merits? Must your fandom express itself in the denigration of another character whom the character you are a fan of considered her best friend?

And, does it, as I fear, all boil down to who 'wins the guy?'

I propose the same in reverse to those who were elevating Tifa in the same sentence as they denigrated Aerith.

Evaluate these women on their merits. Not because it's "us v them"

On topic. Neither, or at least I do not pity her. I think it was sad that she had to spend five years separated from the love of her life only to seemingly lose him for good once he was finally mere miles from her door, and I think it was sad that she lost her life at Sephiroth's hands when he tried to prevent her from activating Holy, but on the other hand, because of that death, not only was the planet apparently saved from imminent destruction, but because she died, Aerith was able to reunite with Zack, as seen in AC (and the now largely apocryphal Maiden). So while it was sad that she died, it's a lot harder to feel pity when there is a known life after death in the FF7 universe.

I used to hate Aerith, simply because I didn't know her history with Zack. After I played Crisis Core and reading Maiden (Yeah, yeah, uncanon. I know.) I actually started to become more interested in her. The reason I disliked her is a bit silly, but it was because Zack was my favorite character and she kinda ragged on him in FFVII and tried flirting with Cloud. :/ Then I found out the truth by reading the Ultimania's and such. So yes, after that in a way I did pity her. For being separated from Zack, from never moving on, ect.

My current feelings for her now are simply, that she's a very sweet and likeable character with more flaws then her fans seem to let on. I have no problem with her, and it's honorable that she died for the planet.

I pitied Aerith until AC. I felt sorry for her losing her 2 true loves until i saw her walk away with Zach at the end and leave Cloud in freakin puddle.

Cloud and Zach were basically the only people Aerith ever cared for, and Cloud spent 7 years trying to avenge her and find someway to be with her, and she basically kicked him in the unmentionables when she and zach walked away together.

i dont hate Aerith for what she did, but i no longer pity her.

I never hated Aeris or even pitied her one bit. I just thought she was an okay character to use because of her strong healing magic even though she was weak with her attacks which is why I didn't use her as much as I would've liked to. Her limit breaks were useful too but that was about it.

You really didn't even get to know Aeris as a character that well in the first place, so i really don't see how it could be sad in the least. And Cloud hardly liked her.

But in FFX Yuna and Tidus had spent a considerable amount of time with each other so it was actually sad when they departed.

One disc and Aeris dies.... WHO CARES!!! LOL

My original reply was deleted for being 'off topic', since it apparently was too likely to lead to another LTD, but I still feel the need to correct the misconceptions of Ancient here. Mods, if this still strikes you as 'too LTD', I ask that you ask me to revise this instead of deletion, as there are other egregious errors in this post.

Firstly: AC is two years after FF7, not 7.
Secondly: Cloud was not seeking to avenge Aerith. He spent most of his 2 years living with Tifa, Marlene, and Denzel, and only recently began seeking forgiveness. He and the rest of the crew already avenged her death in FF7. At no point in time was he ever stated to be searching for a way to 'be with' Aerith. As such, she was not 'kick[ing] him in the unmentionables by leaving with Zack'.
I would go further, but again, there is a moratorium on discussing the romantic intent of Cloud, Tifa, Zack, or Aerith.

firstly:
i was referring to 7 years as the whole of the events between Aerith and Zack and innevitably, Cloud.
If you payed attention closely to the AC story line Cloud was never at the home with Tifa and the children, he was always sleeping in the Sector 5 Slums Church, not at his 'home'. also there was discrefencies in the translation of AC from Japanese to english there are lines that state: "how could i allow the only woman i ever loved to be killed like that." as which was stated by Cloud. Also if you follow the entire story from the original, Cloud states on multiple occasions that he is seeking revenge against Sephiroth for 1) destroying Nibelheim; 2) ruining his life; and 3) for killing Aerith. The whole of my statement is techinically correct and there is no mistake in there.

secondly:
Cloud says a few times throughout AC that he is searching for a way to see Aerith again, it is usually during those scenes with him and Aerith standing back to back and speaking in a non-colloquiel way. He states, "i wish that there was some way to see you," and Aerith replys, "I am always with you(i'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist)."

thirdly:
It is due to the relationship between Aerith and Cloud that I state that she "kicked him in the unmentionables" by walking away with Zack. Cloud was in love with Aerith, as was Zack. But, Aerith was in love with both of them through the course of the story. However, due to Zack being killed, Aerith 'moved on' and met and fell in love with Zack. As love is a pwerful thing, the site of your mentor and the only woman you ever loved walking away together, is quite crushing on some level.

if you believe i have made "other egregious errors" send it to my inbox, don't clutter the forums with pointless corrections. i find it rather rude.
