Grandia III

When I fired this game up,I was sorely tempted to turn it off and trade it.Have you heard the opening theme song? It's like some teeny-bopper-mall-punk-grrrl-attitude-Avril Lavigne-Kelly Clarkson crap. Not exactly the best way to start off a feeling of immersion in another world. But I decided to no be judgmental, and played it.The story is cliched, the character designs are awful, and the music, well,'nuff said. But the battle system,ahhh.....this was one of the absolute best(and even fun)battle systems I've ever encountered. It even made me start liking the story and the characters! If you haven't tried it,try and find it used or borrow it or rent it,whatever, see what you think. Then add to this thread your thoughts!

I haven't finished Grandia II yet, but I'm debating whether to get III or not. =/ Well, we'll see...I still have to see the trailer for it.

Grandia II was fun an right now I am borrowing Grandia III from my friend and I liked it up until my Mem card went corrupt, and i was fighting the blue guy with the huge Hammer Fist and Violetta at the giant Ram looking guardian... might go play it again...

I watched my friend play this game. Yeah, the battles are definitely the best part. We used to yell at him to cancel certain enemies' actions if it looked like they would attack soon.

"CANCEL D! CANCEL D!"

just a question. .

is grandia a ff series game anyway? does square enix produce ti? what's up? I've heard about it before but never really looked into it. should i go spend 20 bucks on it?

I think that it's Square Enix.....but regardless,if you've finished FFXII and need an RPG fix, definitely get it.Just try and bear with it through the opening song, though. The battles are great!!!Story is a little cliched, but it's still good.

Grandia 1 is way better than this game.
The skill system rocked in G1.
G3's was ok I guess.

Grandia is a GameArts series, Square Enix is the publisher of Grandia III.

I really want to play the third game. I enjoyed the first two and the battlesystem is supposed to be even better. I don't care the story and characters aren't all that great, As long as the game is fun, I'm happy.

I have only played the very first one, It was alright not really much replay value since it has very few mini games .The battle style was turn based which I like, But that makes for a much easier game. The Special skills and Magic was based soley on how many enemies you encountered and defeated which became boring pretty early on in the game. I really like the camera options where you can turn it 360 in dungeons and towns to find exits and passageways. The story is its best feature because its engaging and has quite a few plot twists, and the Anime FMV were a change from CGI ones that were out at the time which was different. It also had voice acting but it was'nt very good.

I have Grandia II, I finished it and havent played it again since then. Not a really good game tbh, it's kind of repeating.

I played through the first one all the way through, and i own the second one (those weren't made by Square-Enix, but by Game Arts). I haven't played Extreme, or even III for that matter (III was made by Square-Enix).

I played the 1st Grandia on the PS1, and to be honest I never even knew it was made by Square until today. I have been looking everywhere to get this game, I really liked it and enjoyed every moment of it. I never completed it though, due to the fact that it was one of my friend's games and he soon wanted it back and later on I figured out he went to a boarding school ...

I've played a little bit of Grandia II and I guess your wondering how I can say "I didn't know it was made by Square". I'm ashamed to say that it was an illegal copy. I got to the part where you fought a bat girl but it alway's seemed to freeze straight before finishing her off, so I never got any further ...

If anyone can suggest a shop to get it from I'd be much abliged since I'm not allowed to do online shoping ^^ (Uk import's also).

Sorry Man, this game is rare.
I looked all around for about 2 years and couldn't find a copy. Then I got a job and was able to use ebay

Hrmm...I played Grandia II. It was reallyyy good actually. I loved the story line. The character design was great as well. Just an all around awesome game. So, go for it.

After that play Grandia III. It's not as good as II but it's pretty decent.

I beat Grandia 2 years ago. I found the battle system to be really fun; it makes the series standout. It's like an active battle system where characters can roam free and plant attacks. I played when I was in my "gamer" mode when I was little. So, I'd spend hours just playing with the battle system. Grandia 1 and 2 have good stories. Grandia 3 has a "meh" story.

Play 1 and 2 to get a feel; both of them are quality games.

I got my copy of Grandia from GameStation for about £15 second hand. I had it some years ago but sold it. Thank god I found it again! I still need to complete it.

The second one I completed and it was a so-sogame. I much prefered the first version. Sadly the 3rd hasnt got a UK release, hopefully itwill!
