Just curious. I had him down to three sittings. First time I fought him was over the span of a week though. Mostly from frustration mixed with dis-belief.

What exactly is it that happens when you leave and come back and the level increases a value? I imagine it makes him become exponentially more difficult, but I was curious of the exact mechanics of the process.

Aye, I've been him with a multitude of different strategies. Every time you zone in and out of the area, he gains health through natural healing, and his buffs will be recasted. However, the levels merely inform you, how many times you've re-entered the area.

The following method results in a defeat of Yiazmat under 1 hour: Equip two members with the Masamune. Equip one of them with the Brave Suit, Circlet and Genji Gloves. Keep that person buffed with the following statues - Berserk, Critical Health, Haste, Faith and Shell. This allows an insane combo rate; do this with the other member with the exception of Critical Health and Berserk, add Bravery instead. The third party member must be equipped with Staff Of Magi, Circlet, Robe Of Lords and Sage's Ring. This person must cast all buffs on the party.....(although I forgot the correct gambit setup) This method works as long as your within the Lv 90+ range.

Yes i have done this before. Overall i don't find him to be hard. I bet him with one character on level 90 first try.

One character? That must've taken ages. Not saying it can't be done but bloody hell, if it can take 4+ hours with a full party, I can't imagine how long it would with one.

What about if you're not on level 90? Are there any strategys of beating him fast without being absolutely maxed?

Side not: Lol @ Level 90. You're nine levels away from the maximum, go hang out in the deadlands for a couple hours and just go all the way.

I know I'm not the only one that uses 600 - 900 combos of the Skeletons by that Bull Frog shrine for easy levels.

When you fight him...there will come a time when you can only do 6,999 damage to him. I've tried everything from Expose to Bravery and Beser, but none of the characters seem to be able to get passed that limit of 6,999 damage to the bastard and that will slow anyone down.
Specially when towards the end he goes off, Raking everything and everyone on his path ._.;; He wouldn't stop until the character was dead and it seemed that the more I healed the character, the more he Raked him =/ It was scary v.v Even made me think I was gonna loose too =/
Pretty hard to beat him if you're not well prepared.

Well, you don't have/i] to be in the 90+ range; that only applies to the method I mentioned, or if you're not good enough. I myself defeated him at Level 71 with three characters, and it wasn't that hard - your equipment plays a more vital role than your stats.

The Deadlands isn't the greatest of places to level up, I suggest the secret area of Henne Mines due to the plethora of bats that are down there.

The place that I did most of my leveling up was in the Umbra and such, going down there to fight the Seer, frigging Black Orbs. I missed half of them, that being one of the mayor reasons why I spent so much time down there v.v;;

When I'm choosing my leveling up vacation spot, I always take into account the quantity, quality and difficulty of the area. In the mines, there aren't as many bats as rapidly as you can rack up (as I said, I was doing 600 to 900 combos of those skeleton guys in a sitting) And the the bats are considerably stronger then the skeletons. I had them down to about one hit each usually, so every single time my characters attacked, there was experience dealt.

In my opinion, it is the easiest area to level up at. There's so many of them and they're so easy that it's not fair they give you decent experience.

Give your main party member the Excalibur, and you'll kill the bats in one hit. Its been proven that this the fastest and easiest method to level up. (an exception being the Negulmur trick)

Alot of bosses have the 6999 cap, if I'm not mistaken Hell Wyrm, Behemoth King, certain Espers all have it to name a few.

Which is so annoying!!!
Stop delaying your death!! It will come anyways!!! >3 Whether it be by poking or slashing at your ankles!!
That's what they mostly did against Yiazmat and the Hell Wyrm, constantly slash at the ankles! xDD

Those ankle slashes can be rough after a couple hours.

An as for the leveling up stuff, If you equip the Excal, one character will be able to kill them in one hit, with the skeletons, every single character that hits is killing a skeleton, so you're getting three expierence batchs like every ten seconds.

I just go up to the top where they keep respawning over and over, put the controller down and go fix something to eat. Come back and they are still hackin away at skeletons, or just move the joystick around a little and start the process over again, leave two screens come back and go get something else to eat.

I've gained nearly 150 pound since I've been playing XII :X

Or you could just do the Negulmur trick. This consists of an endless loop of re-spawning zombies summoned by the rare game: Negulmur. You'll need the correct gambit setup, but once its up and running, its the easiest route to levelling up. Automated levelling > Manual levelling.

By the look of this I'm one of the few who did it in my first sitting. WOOT.

It was mainly from luck though since I was almost always casting high level spells meaning he was delayed from using any high level moves in return. YAY to the cast delay on high level spells in FFXII.

This method does seem to be pretty good.

The Strategy Guide advices Ninja swords (Yiazmat is weak to Dark) with atleast one person equipped with the Yagyu Darkblade combined with Genji Gloves. Switching your protectives in the battle aswell, i.e windbreakers when you see Yiazmat is preparing "Cyclone" in the battle log.

Cast "Dispel" regulary, keep your party spread out to avoid losing them all at the same time, Protectga, Shellga, Hastega regulary casted; a tank with lure, bravery and regen casted on him/herself; your biggest damage dealer with bravery/beserk. Equipping your healer/magick caster with the best gun you have with dark shot so they stay ranged and obviously deal dark damage.

Staying close to Yiazmat seems to slow down his healing aswell. So for example if your party were all equipped with bows, he'd heal on a more regular basis than if you had tanks right at his feet.

Seems a good strategy, but I don't know if I can be bothered getting the Yagyu Darkblade in all fairness. So probably end up doing exactly what the guide says, but with Masamune's instead of the Darkblade (or any other Ninja Sword)
