How did you distribute your GFs? I want to apply my GFs in the most effective way possible.

I have mine set out like this -

Squall - Queszacotl, Ifrit
Rinoa - Siren, Diablos
Zell - Shiva, [Brothers]

*I don't have Brothers yet, but when I get them, I'll be assigning them to Zell.

Is this layout effective? Or should I make some switches while I still can?

I would say that for the stage you are at in the game, that's a fantastic layout. However, in the long run, that won't make that much difference, because I can guarantee you that eventually you will want selphie, as her limit is by far my favourite, as it is absolutley anything, even a guaranteed kill with 'The End'

It doesn't really matter, though I like to give Queszacolt to the weakest character, which is normally Rinoa. However that's only because it means I can use card faster.

At first I just try to make sure they are distributed so everyone ca junction something, theres not much point having two GF's with str jct asigned to the same person, even if it means only one person has one GF and someone has 3......Im sure I'm not making sense >_>

Once I have all the GF's I use this set up (going off the guide) keeps all the opposing GF's appart.....whatever that means

Anyway it's this one:

Char 1:
Quezacotl
Brothers
Cerberus
Tonberry
Bahamut

2:
Shiva
Siren
Diablos
Pandemonia
Doomtrain
Cactuar

3:
Ifrit
Carbuncle
Leviathan
Alexander
Eden

I'm so boring I use this set up everytime :wacky: Works for me though :monster:

I don't exactly remember how I set it up, but I do know that I kept it pretty balanced (in terms of numbers) and it didn't really matter to me which character has what GF. From what I do remember though, Eden and Ifrit were with Squall, amongst others. Once I had set up a GF for a character, I keep it at that and won't make any changes since I do want their relationship to be compatible.

So I say just stick with what you have right now. That seems fine to me.

I agree with what you're saying. The key, as far as I'm concerned, with GF distribution is to give your party as many junctionable stats as possible. Naturally, some have a priority (HP-J, Str-J), but balance is the key. I forget which GFs have which junction abilities, so I don't have a concrete build. I also haven't played Eight in a while...

Ah, junction stats! I completely forgot about that. That is very important too. For instance if one of your characters could need a boost in HP-J, then give a GF that has the certain specifics.

But like I said, to me it didn't really matter since towards the end of the game, everyone pretty much comes out strong and useful in their own way anyway, despite the layout set for each characters.

That's true....near the end the stat distribution doesn't make much difference, then I try to just give each person an even number of GFs. Just in case I happen to use them (once in a blue moon =P).

I rarely use the GF's so the compatibility doesn't bother me too much, although that does go against me sometimes if I need to use one and its like really low, so once I know who I want to have what I'l try to remember to spam afew of them to build it up abit and maybe use some items to get them up abit, it's normally just the likes of Cerberus, Doomtrain, & erly in the game Diablos
