Help Getting Final Attack materia from secret duel

OK, I'm trying to get every little thing in this game and I'm so paranoid I'm going to mess this up. Let me know if this is OK.

I -just- got Cloud back in the party and so the gold saucer is open again-- disk 2.

I've looked in my guide and online that you go to the Battle Arena in order to get his level 4 limit break and the w-summon materia.
Once you obtain those two items from the battles there, you equip them right there along with Clouds ULTIMA WEAPON (<--the problem)

Then (from what I gather) you walk right back to the the girl behind the desk and she'll ask you if you want to participate in a secret or new battle.
You need all 3 of those things to have her give you access this secret battle (again, his lv. 4 limit break and w-summon materia that you get from the battle arena, and then his ultima weapon)

Cloud's ultima weapon is so many game hours away from where I am right now. In reality it probably isn't but I am taking my sweet sweet time!! I want to do the chocobo breeding before I even continue on their adventure from when they get Cloud back too, so the weapon is far off.

So, my question is:
Can't I just get his lv. 4 limit break and w-summon materia NOW, and come back after I have the fight with the boss Ultimate Weapon (resulting in me acquiring Cloud's ultima weapon)? Will the girl at the battle square still ask me if I want to do the secret duel if I come back at a totally different time after getting his limit break and w-summon materia?

Everything I'm reading makes it sound like you've got to do it all in one trip. I just feel like I'm going to mess something up.

impossible to mess it up, from what I remember you need to get Omnislash or W-Summon in one trip because BP reset when you leave, but the special battle "unlocks"

its been forever so I may have remembered some of that wrong, but I'm positive you can't screw things up so you'll never get the special battle
 
Not a problem junior!you can do the special battle when ever you like after you get the Omnislash and the W-Summon materia! its a hard slog though and you need have a whole lot of items and high level materia and redundancies for your main Status defense like having the ribbon equipped as well hades and the Added effect materia.

Multiple HP+ materiais also a good idea, equip the mystle for added Evasion boosts coz the less you get hit the less HP you have to retore(no...really!), just know the higher your level the less Stat boosting materia you can equip. if you feel lucky go for a champion Belt before you start and only have 1 Status Defense barrier.

Its a toss up between the All-Slash materia or the 4XSlash matreria but because you deal with more single powerful enemies in this dual the 4X Slash materia is best and with full HP and Ultima Weapon its like 40,000 Hp damage....no brainer boy!
 
Ok sounds good!! I'm going to continue with my little plans in that case! I'm glad I asked, I haven't played this game in a good several years and don't think I've ever bothered to get the final attack materia. That's a good plan of action Galaxy, my stats are pretty high everyones at max hp with 1 master hp materia. There's some other ways the versus guide says that I might try. I finally am going to fight all the weapon monsters and never have before. I was reading this final attack materia is important for one of the weapon monsters! (like for pairing with Phoenix summon) so definitely need that.

Hey Pursey dont forget the Underwater materia you need to give more time when fighting Emerald weapon dude! you get it by Morphing the Boat guy at the Undersea reactor. with enough Healing and Attack power Emerald goes down fiarly easy but Ruby Weapon is whole different Storie and sgould be attempted with stuff l mentioned earlier

Just be Careful and enjoy the Challenge yo!
 
Oh I know, I'm not going after them any time soon! Just wanted to be sure I wouldn't mess up getting that materia!

I agree about it being tough, but have High levels, Kotr, mime and quadra magic with Bahamut ZERO you should have no problems.
 
Basically go to gold saucer battle arena on last disk! beat EVERY enemy once , muscle man dude will offer you a chance to fight the harder arena monsters! win that & the first gift he gives you is final attack! Basically the harder round offers more battle points!:ed::ed::ed::ed::ed:
