How the hell can it be that fucking hard to start playing this game again?

I played this like for more than 3 years ago, but I really want to start again.

I don't remember my password, but the problem is that THERE IS NO PASSWORD RECOVERY.
Nothing in Play Online.

Square Enix Support Center is pretty much fucked up since there is no "Additional Assistance" button:
https://support.na.square-enix.com/...18&subject=Request+to+recover+a+lost+password

and any other type of contact requires the password.

I really don't want to start all over, but I really loved the game so I though, what the heck I can buy it again.

I checked every store, but no store anywhere has the game. I found that D2D and Steam had FFXI, but when I enter the site, I cannot find Final Fantasy XI anywhere. On steam I can see that they have the trailer, but not the game.
So I can't buy it either?
Even if I did buy it again, I have already registered my e-mail to the old account.

Do they really want to keep the game alive?
Any idea what to do? Or should I just... dont play it?

This is one of the reasons why I never got into the game. PlayOnline sucks, it really does. Just to make an account you seriously have to sit there for about an hour, make a SE account, PlayOnline account, and then a game account. All of which ask for your credit card and at times can charge multiple times.

Not only that, if you don't play for a certain amount of time, they erase your characters. You can't recover your password or anything.

Don't waste your time, just play FFXIV instead. It's been confirmed that they're not using PlayOnline because of its fail.

Hell, you can't even pick your own server upon making an account. Why bother?

While yes, after a while they erase your characters, that was extended from 6 months to well over a year. I haven't heard what the new limit is thus far.

And now you can pick any server you want, except of course, the test server. No World Passes needed any more.

And Venatir, I was able to buy a second (Well, third) copy of the game off eBay for the PS2, and I found that Gamestop still had 360 and PC versions.

They also had a PS2 version, but it only had the original and Rise of Zilart, and they don't sell the expansions at all. Makes buying it in a store for PS2 pretty useless.

I wasn't checking gamestop since I am not located in America. And the swedish gamestop site sucks so god damn much since they don't have a search button, and only sells new games

And about ebay. I really want a fresh game

I don't like the look of FFXI, it looks...expensive, that won't make sense but to me - it does. The game looks complicated and I'd rather stick to the normal series. I'd get lost in FFXI. But if you want to play it, go for it. I say give it a go.

It will be a "fresh" game.

Once you enter in the registration codes to the PS2, PC or 360, and assign them to both the computer and a credit card, they get erased from the system, and the cd becomes unusable again.

Which is why I've had to buy the game so many times. Lesson learned: Never delete a game off your hdd... you might want to play it again later.
