After reading an interesting post in the FFVI section it made me realise something.
In most FF games you walk around as a guy but the main character is really a girl - then the second main character is the guy you walk around as - it seems to be that way from FFVI onwards :
FFVI - could walk around as anyone but the main characters were Terra and Celes
Reasons why Celes and Terra are the main characters :
Terra - you start off with her, shes the first character you get to control in the WoB and most of the first half of the game revolves around Terra and the espers.
Celes - You start off with her in the WoR, shes one of the most developed characters in the game, and the second half of the game is her recruitng her friends again and defeating Kefka.
FFVII - you walk around as Cloud but the main character is Aeris
Aeris - The first disk pretty much focuses on Aeris - we learn a lot about her and her past before we start to learn about anyone else, shes involved in the story alot more than the other main characters. AFter Disk one it is still about Aeris as her sacrifice saves the world - basically without Aeris FF7 wouldnt have ended happily or even had a story XD
FFVIII - You walk around as Squall but the main character is Rinoa
Rinoa - She is the first character to show emotion, shes the one who Squall is assigned to obey, shes the one who brings out the best in the party, and she has the whole sorceress thing going
Yeah....FFVIII isnt my strong point.
FFIX - you walk around as Zidane but the main character is Garnet
Garnet - Its fairly obvious that Garnet is the main character, its her story they focus on more than anyone else - it shows her develop from a timid princess into a confidant leader - Zidane doesnt even get a story until the end of disk 3, while the first two disks are about Garnet trying to stop her mother and being afraid of her own summoning magic, even after zidanes story takes over in disk 3 Garnet is still very important - like when she cuts her hair shows that shes no longer afraid.
FFX - You walk around as Tidus but the main character is Yuna
Yuna - FFX is Mainly Yunas story told through Tidus' eyes. Its HER that will save the world its HER thats the most important and most of the plot twists revolve around HER.
FFXII - You walk around as Vaan (in towns and stuff anyway) but the main character is Ashe
*only in the henne mines so bear with me here*
Ashe - its all Ashes story, she is the character that gets focused on the most she is the groups Leader, all the villains want to kill her.
Ok well some - if not all - of those summaries suck, it does make a valid point. In FF games the Men are the people you walk around as while the women are the most important storyline wise - this way there both equal and fair. well IMO anyway lol
Does it make sense to you?
