Before Dagger loses and then regains her ability to use Eidolons, did anyone ever train her so she had enough mp to do so?

I havent played th game in years but i remember there was a bit when dagger was running(?) and you were in fossil roo and that was the best bit to train her to that level.... The mp requirement is ridiculously high so youre not supposed to but it is possible, cant remember if i ever made it though.....

I know it's also possible to do at the very beginning of the game (like during the Ice Cave for example). You have to level her pretty well though.

I remember I spent a couple of random hours just leveling up outside of the ice cave one time simply so I wouldn't have to do it later, and I was able to summon Ramuh (and I believe Shiva) that I can remember.

I've never leveled her that high, but I've leveled her high enough so she's close to being able to summon them. I just got really bored, and training gets really tedious after a while, I just don't understand how people can power-level early on xD They must have the patience of a saint.

Yeah im sure it is possible, i definately got close but at the ice cave that must have taken you AGES. Effort :D

Ive just realised i may have to replay the game coz i can hardly remember anything about it!

Hehe, why thank you. :P

Actually no, generally with every FF game I've learned that it saves me more time to try and level earlier rather than later. In this case I knew Garnet wouldn't be able to summon until much later and I was wanting to be ready for the Black Waltz battles since they can be a pain in the right circumstances lol. Not to mention the AP gain, particularly for Vivi so I can go ahead and get his younger spells completed.

The Evil Forest is also a pretty good place to try and level up a bit as well. Once you've beaten the main boss there and you're escaping, you literally have an endless supply of enemies to fight at your own discretion. Just leave an area and return to it, and the enemies are refreshed. ^_^ This doesn't apply for Garnet though, since your party then is Zidane, Steiner, Vivi and Blank. Your best bet with her is either outside of the Ice Cave, or inside.

Agreed. I consider the mid-section of the game to be more enjoyable if you've leveled up your party at the beginning. At this point, I'd spend a fair bit of time abusing the infinite and rapid spawning Plant Spiders - killing off Blank of course. Useful. =]

I'd only leveled Garnet up high enough to Summon the Eidolons on one file, and that was unintentional. I just noticed that she was able to summon Shiva, so I thought I might as well. :wacky: Don't recall using any others though.

I levelled up enough to summon Ifrit and Shiva but the rest just required a ridiculous amount of MP to use, so I just stopped doing so after that.

I remember doing the same as Lurid, actually. I never realised until much, much later that exp is shared amongst your characters, though. :wacky:

I never did al that. I figured I'd get there later and until then I'd probably won't need them anyway.
And later you can summon them without having to spend a ridiculus amount of MP on it. So I never regreted not leveling up.

Been looking for this thread since I started replaying IX the other day. xD

I've actually done a lot of power-leveling so far on this playthrough. I abused the Grand Dragons, and Quina's brilliant limit glove, to level up Zidane, Vivi, Quina and Freya to level 26. I found out that Gargan Roo is a brilliant place to train Garnet and Steiner, before going to Alexandria. Killed off Marcus and trained the other two, so they'd be at the same level as the main 4.

Garnet gained enough MP to summon Shiva at about level 20, and Ifrit at about 24. So, contradicting my earlier statement, it's not that difficult to make her able to do that before the summons are extracted.

In one playthrough, I think I was shy of a level or two before Garnet had enough MP to summon before you had to find them in those gems later.

I honestly got so damn bored and couldn't bear to keep going further and just thought forget it. But yeah, it's definitely possible, you just need patience -_-

Nah, I get to bored to train on that level, my last playthrough I got close to being able to summon Shiva, but then I cam tot he conclusion it wasn't worth the time and effort and it occured to me, I never use summons anyway, so I just carried on my merry way

I never really tried untill she got her ability back. She was too hard to train and there were better people and abilities to use at the time. But when she got her ability back, i used her to the fullest

I never tried. I always figured that I would just go through the game getting everything that I can and fight while I travel. Plus, I dont have THAT much patience for fighting petty disc 1 enemies for a long period of time.

Yeah I could never be bothered to do that. Although I think leveling up in Gargan Roo could be an idea. Cos my Steiner was seriously underleveled last time. And I'm a big fan of Rusty!

Can we try not to steer the topic too far from leveling Garnets Summons please ^^

sorry...back on topic.
i always tried to get garnet up to a big enough level so i could use summons before she lost the ability.
but i never got round to it, because it takes so much effort and time.
