I was hoping that someone could describe in detail Garland's plan to restore life on Terra. I forgot and I just need the info for research for story I'm planning on writing for the writing contest. -_-

Garland was created by the leaders of Terra to ensure the planet's survival through "the decay". I don't recall there ever being a specific statement regarding what this decay concerned, but the FF wiki states it was over-populated... which doesn't exactly make sense.

The ultimate plan is to force assimilation of Terra onto other planets, in the case of IX - Gaia. The initial assimilation failed, and for some reason or other Garland was forced to wait until those of Gaia had the ability to summon powerful Eidolons, and reached the peak of civilisation [and was given a time-span of 5000 years to allow this to occur].

As a first step, Garland created the Iifa Tree [or, some theorise, Necron] to filter the souls of Gaia and allow Terran souls to one day flow freely through the planet after the assimilation took place. The purpose of the Iifa Tree was to prevent the cycle of souls in Gaia from flowing, thus blocking off the planets lifeforce [though after Terra's souls would be replacing them, Garland is under the assumption Gaia won't die].

Kuja was created to hasten the process of removing Gaia's souls by inflicting war [which he obediently adheres to, as we see when Brahne wages such war on the Mist Continent].

After a certain trigger point, Garland would resume the assimilation and force Gaia's souls into Gaia, which can freely be done due to Gaia's own souls being forced back and disposed of [i.e the Mist], thus restoring Terra to its former glory and starting life over from scratch. Garland's purpose was only this, so whether he simply dies, or is occupied by a soul of Terra [by possibly being a Genome himself], we don't know.

Hope that's clear enough. :wacky: It's been a while since I indulged in the lore of IX, so I might well have left something out. The bit about Kuja is vague because that's all his purpose was, and all his part plays in the goal of Garland's.
