Sun And Steel
ARE YOU GOURMET?!
Don't know if this is best suited to here or Gold Saucer but I'll stick it here just now anyway.
Basically which games or series would you say has a soundtrack which really gets you going? For games and series I would say:
Castlevania; One of the best series for music, from classics like Bloody Tears, Vampire Killer, Wicked Child, Den, Cursed Bloodlines and Dracula's Castle right through to the efforts of Curse Of Darkness and Lament Of Innocence, there really is astounding music to accompany this series of games.
Samurai Warriors 1 and 2; I was absolutely gutted when I heard that they'd changed the Odawara theme from the original ( which is still one of my favourite game tracks )....until I heard the new one, which is every bit as good, quite an achievement.
Above all though, I'm done with beat 'em up music. The cheesey synth and guitar tunes just can't be beat, Geese ja!
As a thought, which tracks would everyone nominate for their top ten game tunes?
Mine would be ( I think ) :
1. Terrible beat ( Boss Theme ) - Revenge of Shinobi
2. Dear Falling Angel ( Krizalid 2nd form ) - King Of Fighters '99
3. Summoned beast Battle ( I assume it's the battle against Isaru but I can't be certain ) - Final Fantasy X
4. Fighting In The Street ( 1st Stage ) - Streets Of Rage
5. Stage 1 Part 1 - Mega Turrican
6. Ifrit ( Fire Elemental and Ifit battles ) - Vagrant Story
7. Toccata Into Blood Soaked Darkness ( Dracula 1st Form ) - Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness
8. Whirlwind ( Surfing Stage ) - Shinobi 3
9. Stage 2 Theme - Wilderness ( don't think it has a name as such ) - Super Castlevania IV
10. Tower / Boomer Kuwanger Stage Theme - Megaman X

There's also an arrange c.d. of some of the Rogue Galaxy tracks, re-arranged by some of the big names of the game music world, including Mitsuda and Yoshitaka Hirota, as well as Yoko Shimoura ( Street Fighter 2 ), MEGATEN/Shinji Hosoe ( Ridge Racer, Street Fighter Ex ) and Motoi Sakuruba ( Valkyrie Profile, Tales of... series, Golden Sun ). It's quite a good c.d.
oC are two soundtracks that I listen to frequently. They're definitely up there for me.
FF music ftw!
