I learned this through my boyfriend:

There's a such thing as water intoxication. If you drink too much water, it will dilute sodium in the bloodstream and cause an imbalance level of water in the brain. The symptoms are similar to alcohol intoxication: nausea, altered mental state, dizziness, etc.
