Interesting bitch. Probably the best introduction to any thread ever. That point aside, I think she's one of the most interesting characters every created by Square-Enix. Her character design alone is not that impressive. She belongs to a rat race of dragoon knights with one of the weirdest overall looks of any character from any game. However, what she's based on and the quarks associated with her and her race is really quite intriguing.
To start off, she's based on the Norwegian mythos of Freyja. Freyja is the counterpart to Odin, which I will discuss more later. She was not only the goddess of sex, beauty, attraction, and love but also the goddess of war. It does kind of relate to Final Fantasy IX's Freya. She not only was suppose to be the most beautiful of her race but also an incredibly fierce warrior. It is also interesting that Cleyra was destroyed by Odin, Freyja's Norse counterpoint. Out of all the different summons it is curious that there is such a blatant and obvious connection.
Also, although Ireland is not even remotely considered to be "Norse", I do think a lot of the cultural traits of the Burmecian and Cleyran people are reminiscent of Ireland. It is hard to tell without voice acting but I think you could easily add a gaelic accent to any of the Burmecian/Cleyran people and have it seem completely normal. BustaMo can contest to that. Their style of dress and speech seems to be very atypical of ancient Irish culture. You also can notice a very clear "Irish River Dance"-esque dance when the Cleyran people attempt to strengthen the sandstorm around their village. Also I think "Sir Iron-Tail Fratley" is a reference is Micheal Flatley, the famous Irish river dancer.
