We all know the original Playstation ports of the older (I-VI) kinda sucked, mostly due to god awful loading times. I'm just wondering if the PSN ports suffer from this same lag or because its not being read from disc anymore that it'll be faster?

The reason I ask this is because a year or two ago my PSP and NDS Lite were stolen along with all the games (and thus all portable FF's :gasp:). I'm getting the itch to play some of the older ones again yet dont really want to pay out for a new PSP (already have a replacement NDS Lite) and hunt out all the games again, so just thinking of settling with the PSN releases.

I played the PSN Version on the PSP and I never noticed lag on it, i'mnot sure about ps3, but if the psp don't then the ps3 one won't I think the ps3 version even gets upscaled to HD..... sooo a more detailed experience  but u should get the psn version, load times are cabout the same, there is a fast disc load setting, but i noticed on FF9 that having that on broke the FMV Cutscenes.. soo don't bother with that

Im not worried about VII-IX as I still have a working PS2. Its mainly IV-VI im thinking of (I-III are on my iPhone :wacky:). Don't really think more detail is needed for the NES-era FF's (apparently they are just mostly untouched ports) it's just loading times and general look on a big screen im concerened about.

there not a PSN port for FFIV but FFVI looked ok on my mates PS3 :) cuz it the PS1 port :P which means it was improved for the big screen :)

The PSone versions on the playstation store are just like the PSone versions so yes they do lag at the loading times on the menu and battle (FFVI defaintly does, I dont have FFV yet but i would say it would too.)
Fuck 'em then. I might just search eBay for cheap copies of the GBA versions in that case. I'll just borrow my brothers PSP when I want to play IV and After Years, as I haven't even played After Years yet. :hmmm:

The PSP ports are all quite good, I'd recommend them to anyone. There are changes here and there, but I think they are improvements. Especially in FFIV & After Years.

I used to have I+II for PSP and I agree, but they got stolen. I have them on the iPhone now which are essentially the same except for minor differences. I know IV is on the PSP aswell now as part of FFIV:Complete. Im considering getting one of those budget PSPs that ive only just noticed on Amazon, so maybe I'll get them afterall. Pretty sure V and VI arn't though, unless downloaded from the PS store.
