As expected, Square Enix has given the North American Final Fantasy XIV official site an update today, with formal English equivalents for all the information shared in the Japanese magazines earlier in the week. It also made public all the screenshots shared in those magazines.
You can see the details for yourself at the site, but just to be complete, here are some terminology changes from my translations, along with the screenshots.
The "Banzoku" are known simply as beast tribes. There doesn't appear to be a proper name for them. As detailed in Famitsu, the term "beast tribes" describes a bunch of different tribes who oppose the player.
An example of a beast tribe member.
The "Banshin" are known as "Primals." Primals first appeared in the world 10 years in the past, summoned by the beast tribes and used to wreck havoc upon the people of Eorzea.
A glimpse at the Primals.
The continent the Garlean Empire is attempting to conquer is spelled "Aldenard." As detailed a while back, Garlean has, to the great surprise of many, managed to defeat the city-state of Ala Mhigo, once one of the most powerful city-states in Eorzea.
Sample technology from the Garlean Empire.
The mysterious power mentioned in the Famitsu story is known in English as "Echo." Those affected by the power resonate with one-another and can relieve the past experiences of others as if their own.
These screens seem to show adventurers sharing their past with one another.
Outside of the story details, the site's "Races" section has been updated with a look at character creation, including underwear Hyur and various Roegadyn faces. While not providing specifics, the page says that players can choose from a wide variety of face types and hair styles, then make detailed adjustments to hair, skin, eye color, mouth, nose and eye shape.
The Japanese version of the site also states that you can add tattoos and injuries, as suggested by the Roegadyn images.
