do you think they will release it in the U.S.? and if not, is it possible to play the European game on my console? I want this so bad.

From what I understand, PS3 games are region free, so you should be able to import this and play it on your own PS3.

But it'll be pricey, especially with additional shipping and handling :hmmm:

I don't doubt it will, it would only make sense that the US receives a collectors edition if the UK does, especially given the US has a larger population which means it would probably sell more. But Fusion is right, you could import it anyway, it would just cost that little extra.

It does puzzle me why SE hasn't confirmed a US Limited Collector's Edition yet. It did surprise me when they announced one for PAL territories first as well. I imagine there will inevitably be one- what it will contain will be up to SE, though I can't imagine it will be anything that amazing.

You can get the game from Europe if you want as the PS3 games are region free. There's no real point though as it's out in the US at the same time, and getting a PAL copy will cost you a bit more for the same game as Mercurial said.

well the collector's edition comes with a decal of the mark of the l'cie, a hard back book with concept art inside(?) a cd with selections from the soundtrack... and I thought there was something else. just forget which....

This happened with Heavy Rain Special Edition for PS3 also recently, being announced for the UK and not NTSC regions, i find it odd its not being released for NTSC regions, its obvious they will make more money through amaricans then us Lil PAL people

I just heard the news myself. We best be seeing some sort of LE copy in the states or I'mma nuke Square HQ. No joke.

The soundtrack is what's got my eye the most right now. I wasn't a big fan of Masashi Hamauzu's work in DoC though. It had it's moments nonetheless. But hiswork in XIII is fascinatingly improved. I'd still of preferred Takeharu Ishimoto (Guy who did CC's OST). Now THAT was some jaw dropping music.

Concept artwork seems worth the buy as well.

WE BETTER BE GETTING THIS.

^^ I think there's a thread about what it includes somewhere around here :hmmm: Just if you wanted to know what else. I personally don't think i'd get it if it were to come out in the US but it only makes sense if they do.... >.> It'll probably sell well if SE does decide to release the special edition in the US. Wouldn't they want to sell in the US anyways?? More money in their pockets so I don't quite understand why it hasn't been confirmed. =/

Im just wondering if its going to be worth it. Im a sucker for special editions with games, CDs, DVDs, etc. So Im not so sure. Its going to be 39.99 in the UK for normal edition and 59.99 for the special. Plus the walkthrough is going to be about 13 pounds on top. Im debating if an extra 20 pound is going to be worth it.

I wouldn't, the walkthrough then yeah sure but the collector's edition contains something like a few bits of artwork and a "sample" soundtrack. Both of which you can already download off the internet (certainly the OST) and the artwork will end up being uploaded if it hasn't already. I'd save the £20 if I were you, the only advantage is having the traditional cover :sad3:

i just reserved the limited collector's edition at game stop and the limited edition hardcover guide. He told me they're on amazon so North America is getting them. When i got back to my computer, there is no limited edition game on amazon, but they do have a listing for the hardcover limited edition guide! Are we getting this or not???

Probably, I think I sound like a broken record now saying this but chances are if we're getting a Limited Edition then America probably is too, it just won't have been announced. All being said, it's stupid of retailers to offer something they can't actually promise to provide yet.

i wrote finalfantasy-xiii.net and asked if they knew anything. I don't know how reliable they are, but they told me that north america is not getting the collector's edition, but that north america IS getting the limited edition guide. Would they inside info? Or are they just guessing?

Well I know for Canada at least, pre-ordering FFXIII will come with a guidebook (not sure which brand, but I'm expecting a hefty book), so maybe it will be the same for the U.S.?

It depends on what stance you take, I'm taking the stance that from a financial point of view it wouldn't make sense for Europe to receive a collector's edition of Final Fantasy XIII and not America. However, they're probably taking the stance that there isn't going to be one unless it's confirmed. :)

Thanks hun, youve helped convince me. Ill put the extra cash towards the special edition walkthrough. Reason being its hardback and will last longer then normal walkthroughs. Its a shame they didnt stick to the traditional cover with the normal. More cash for them I guess.

Yeah, in the US (I just got it today) if you pre-order you get a little mini walkthrough thing for the beginning of the game.

And yeah, dont pre-order the limited edition guide from Gamestop. It's 35 there and only 20.99 on Amazon. Even the people who worked at the gamestop said they were going to buy it off amazon lol.

I'm kind of the same; I thought I was being all cool by buying a crap load of stuff alongside the actual game when I bought FFXII and yet I've still never even played all the way through the game so it was kind of a waste. I usually find that if I actually look forward to the FF releases that I seem to enjoy the game and I certainly am about FFXIII but I can see myself getting roped into buying the Special Edition on release day only to give myself a quick face palm later in the week.

When I bought the special edition of Fallout 3 I was kind of gutted at how little extra you got with it but thankfully that one only cost £5 extra.

I asked my local store today and they said no collectors edition is planned for XIII in NA but the special hardcover book will come in NA. I already pre ordered mine with the book so Technically I have a special edition :awesome: Im just gonna get all the OST off the internet and the art like Ryan said. When it comes out. :gasp:
