Final Fantasy vs Xenogears

Well I was a big fan of both when they came out for the original playstation and would of loved to see more Xenogears. I played the Xenosagas but they were no where as good as the real thing...

As far as this goes, I would say Final Fantasy has done alot better at making games despite if they become more enjoyable or less with each one made. They do a great job at bringing new interfaces and new ways at using your characters and interacting with battle sequences.

If Xenogears came out with more, I would have to give it to them.. they made a lasting game.. sort of like the Final Fantasy VII in everyone elses mind.

I would obvoiusly go for Final Fantasy, I loved Xenogears, it was a top quality awesome RPG, one of my favorites, but it could never match my love for FFVIII

Unfortunately, I never finished Xenogears. I still have it, so I should work on that sometime. As far as I made it (some 40 hours), it does seem to be a great game on par with some of the Final Fantasies. Using the gears was a lot of fun, and all of the characters (so far!) are well-developed.

If I had to pick between Xenogears and Final Fantasy VII, for example, I would still pick FFVII.

I'd have to go with FF. I only watched the begining of the first xenosaga and I never exspected the intro clip to be around 40 minutes long. If that says anything for the rest of the series I'd rather go with FF. I like to move around.

Blasphemy!Never confuse Xenogears with lame Xenosaga,Mevv.Definitely try and track it down if you can.I would definitely pick Xenogears over FFVII.But it ties with FFVIII.I can't imagine life without either one of them.But I guess in the big picture,FF wins.Now to be fair,consider that we're pitting one game against a series of 12,with 13 coming soon!If Xeno had been able to find a way to continue with,say,Xenogears I and II all the way to XII....and I mean in the traditional Xenogears,not Saga.....then it would be Xeno.

Ahem. Xenosaga has a lot of elements that make it as good or better than Gears. It's plot is just as deep and enjoyable. Albedo, Margulis and Yuriev are as awesome as Id, Grahf and Miang.

Anyway, Gears' plot and music are above any Final Fantasy. I'm on the fence as to whether Id or Kuja is cooler.

Sorry,Nikkolas,lame was a bit harsh.Pretty much anything in the Xeno universe is worth my time,but I still favor Fei and Citan and Bart over anyone.I guess it's just sentimentality.

well i saw and played both games, xenogear was an awesome game, while FF series were all magnificent play them both and satisfaction is guaranteed.

You can imagine my surprise when I found this thread. I'm a big fan of Xenogears as well as final fantasy. If I had to choose between the PS1 final fantasies and Xenogears I can't deside. Xenogears was a game that had both anime and CG cutscenes. Xenogears also had an amazing battle system. I wish they make and updated version on it :: sigh::. Anyway the ps1 final fantasy games didn't catch up to xenogears graphicly until 9 but story wise FF wins. But it's very hard to choose I love xenogears but if I had to choose which was better I sadly have to say Final fantasy. Xeogears has so many possiblities if they just make a new xenogears like they intended when they started xenosaga.
