I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I'm new at this game and I still down't know some abbreviations e.g.

Vit-J - GF ability
Vitality
Str
Spr
When you junction magic there's a section where youan junction magic in the ST A/D Status and Status A/D El A/D. what is that for? For example is Quistis trying to say if there's a fire monster, I must junction ice magic to Status Defence/Attact etc? I know Quistis explained it in the tutorial, but I just didn't get what she was saying.

I juctioned Cure to HP but nothing happens when I do physical attack.

I saw a youtube walkthrough and I saw that he was able to use magic attacks as he used physical attacks on a monster. how do you do that. do you have to junction magic to physical attack? if so how?

thanks

I'll move this thread to the help booth ^^

-Thread Moved-

From what I remember, you junction magic to your stats, which changes them. For example, you junction 6 cures to your HP, your HP will rise. You junction 7 Fires to your strength, your strength will rise. Etc. It's all about finding out which magic boosts which stats the best. 100 magic to a stat is the most you can junction. And if you use a magic you have junctioned to a stat, you can actually decrease your stats by using said magics.

What you saw is elemental junction, it's something I often bother with, as you have to keep changing it, and I'm too lazy for that:elmo:
When you are junctioning magic to your stats, press left once and you'll get the elemental junction, juction say Blizzard to your attack and you'll do ice damage when you attack. I don't know if the percentage is added on to your attack to enhance it, regardless you'll do ice damage when attacking physically. Press left once more and you'll get the far more helpful, imo, status junction, so if you junction x sleeps there's an x% chance of the targeted monster falling asleep.
Hope that helps.

It's quite intuitive which magic boosts which stat best. Though any magic can be junctioned to improve any stat, you'll get best results if you junction healing magic to HP, attack magic to Str, Haste to Spd and so on. I think there's a table online with the junction effects of all the magic.

EDIT: here it is.

The basic definition of Junctioning is the "attaching" of your stocked magic to one of your stats to improve/alter it in some way. This is done in three ways:

1) The standard form, where you junction a magic to one of your base stats (Str, Vit, Mag, etc) to boost them. Depending on the stat, different spells have different effects (for example, curative magic will boost HP much more than offensive magic)...but the key is to have 100 of whatever you're junctioning, so the effect is increased.

2) Elem-Atk and Elem-Def affect the elemental attributes of your physical attack. If you junction elemental magic to Elem-Atk, your attack will gain a certain percentage of that element. This doesn't boost your actual attack power, but you can deal more damage if you junction magic properly (for example, junctioning Ice magic to this stat and attacking an enemy weak to ice)...but you can also heal enemies as well. Elem-Def provides defense against attacks of the element that you junction here...up to a point where you can even absord some elements.

3) Stat-Atk and Stat-Def are the same as Elem, but with Status magic. Stat-Atk will give your attack a certain percentage chance of inflicting the junctioned status effect when you attack, and Stat-Def will provide a certain percentage of immunity from a junctioned magic. Example: 100 Sleeps on Stat-Atk will provide a 100% chance of inflicting Sleep (unless the monster is immune, of course :gasp:), and 100 Deaths on Stat-Def will prevent you from being killed by one-hit death spells (useful).

Hope that helps. :monster:

Ok, A/D would be absorb/defense. For higher level magics that get junctioned to Elem-Def, you will see a green number with a star next to the number, this means you'll absord that element. Absorbing the elements can be very helpful, as you can battle elemental based enemies and have them cure you.

As for standard junctioning, basically just move different magics to different junctions to see where they will help you most. I personally like to focus more on offense, so I use stronger magics to support Str and Mag. Helping Spd will also help a lot as well later on in the game. I'm guessing you're still early in the game, but I do have a video of my final stats of my last playthrough showing all the magics I junctioned. But this is at the end of the game and involves some of the best magics in the game. Honestly, you really don't need to focus much on Elem-J, but Stat-J is very beneficial, then otherwise focus on your main stats.
