"No other game defines 'overrated' quite like Final Fantasy VII. The greatest RPG ever? Maybe if your trajectory toward it started at Spyro the Dragon. Square's desire to make the game accessible was its undoing. Accessible is just another word for shallow, which is what Final Fantasy VII fans are. Those of us who actually know something about videogames realize that Final Fantasy peaked with the Super Nintendo entries. Anybody that argues against IV and VI is just embarrassing themselves -- and videogames in whole."
 
FFVII? Overrated? Rly? Whoa! *becomes video game elitist* Seriously though, I do not understand where people get this impression that Final Fantasy had only a tiny fanbase of obsessives before VII. Not true, it was a successful franchise, and it continues to attract new fans now. I somehow doubt they jumped on board because of an 11 year old PS1 game.
 
Lets not call everyone who has an opinion thats different to yours shallow eh? Any kind of flaming trolling etc will NOT be tollerated. (that goes to everyone) If you have signed up just to troll, you won't be around long. If you can prove that you can be a decent member then prove otherwise. Your opening post doesnt say much though

Maybe FFVII IS over rated, so what? Am I shallow for enjoying the game? Dont think I am. Ive played and enjoyed both VI & IV, does tha make me a walking contradiction for liking FFVII? And FYI I HATED Spyro the dragon. It was the first game I played that actually had some sort of a deep story to it, everything before that was Sonic or MArio for me, so I was in awe. As Im sure many other people were. Id never played RPG's before VII, never even heard of Final Fantasy, I only got into it by accident, yet Ive learnt to appreciate all , well nearly all the FF games Ive played since. So IMO it's not over rated, but I can see why others who dont like it think that *shrugs*

Well if the name and post don't scream troll I don't know what does. Plus I don't think we'll see more from him. Just that one post. I've seen it happen on other forums. I say if he doesn't return in a day ban him.

As for the discussion I liked most of the FFs. I only really have two on my hate list, II and VIII. VII is my favorite of the series but I also enjoy playing the older ones. My favorite of the older ones is a tie between FFIV and FFI. I like the challenge I gave me and I enjoyed the story of IV. I can't really comment on VI since I lost the cartridge shortly after getting it.
 
i liked it. first game that i was actually timid to face a boss (ps i was lik 8 or 9 years old)

i was training and lvling all day and when i finally got the guts to face sephiroth i almost shat my pantz when he used that ultima or watever his special move is. it was ridiculous. overall it was good and i will likely play it again jus for fun
 
When I was young and first getting into gaming, I had a Commodor 64, Atari 2600, Sega Master System and then a Megadrive.

After that, I got a SNES, which quickly became my favourite console to date. Had alot of games for it, but I'd never actually seen any of the Final Fantasy games in shops. Never heard of it up until I got a Playstation, which had two free games with it. One of the games I picked was FFVII. It was the first game I played on a PSX.

I absolutely loved it, and still do now. Though over recent years, I've been leaning toward X as my favourite in the series.

It's a brilliant game, which holds more than a great story and game play. It also holds nostalgia. If someone asked me to name my favourite games of all time, FFVII would probably be the first title I'd name.

Now, if I hadn't played it, and bought it tomorrow, would I like it as much? Maybe not, the graphics and gameplay has been out-dated. Does that make it over-rated? No.

So in short, I disagree.

FFking, the move was Super Nova. As for the final boss it's quite easy to beat since he uses a set attack patern.

Not meaning to sound like a prick or anything, but how can you think otherwise what with the bonafide flamebait name and the copypasta post itself. Mod should've just kept the first post that intelligently said "Don't feed the troll".

Anyway, while we're at it, here's my two cents: I actually do kinda find VII overrated and to an extent, agree with the copypasta. Not to say I hate the game, still one of my favs, it's just that - overrated.

I blame its really shitty fanbase. I know they've ruined some of my love for this game.

Good points guys. I mean if this guy wants to discuss his opinions on the game, I'm thinking he can do it in the Review of the Game topic stickied at the top. Or if he wants to tell us his favorite or worst parts of the game, he can do that in the Bests & Worsts topic that's stickied.

Since it's questionable whether this guy is coming back or not, I'll close this topic and if he wants to discuss it further, and in his own words instead of someone else's, it can be done in the topics I just mentioned.

I thought that aswel, but we dont, thats why I left thisone open, but peopel were too busy making comments on the op, obvious troll was obvious, but i still thought it was a good topic
