Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Weapons

I'm having a few problems with the game. I've done about 20 quests and I'm up to the story mission where you have to get the pearls from the 'lord of the flowing sand' (the huge monster at the bottom of the pit where antlions continuously spawn).
The problem is I hardly have any weapons with which to teach my units abilities, Luso has been using the barong for ages now. How to I acquire more weapons to teach more abilities or do I just have to complete more story missions? All the AP awarded for missions is just being wasted

I had this same problem when I played the game, but you need to create new weapons in the Bazaar, as shops will never stock new weapons, so you use the loot you obtain during missions to create new weapons ^^

And, I'll just shift this to the XII Help Booth, as it can be used for all Ivalice Alliance games ^^
