For me i gotta say FF is better, the franchise is far greater than that of DQ but both are good series of games although i've only played DQ:VIII but that was a marvelous game but the DQ series isn't as big as the FF series globally.

I think Final Fantasy sells better in the West...
Anyway I personally prefer Final Fantasy, no other reason than it's what Ive played most of, so I can't really comment on the rest of the DQ games. Although I DO think DQVIII was significantly better than FFXII. It was just more enjoyable, seemed to have a lot more to do, had day and night
and a casino. It just had a more fun feel to it, although it was deceptively cute because it is quite hard and training is a bitch........
Either way, I still prefer FF on the whole

Of the main series DQs, I've only missed out trying VI...of FF, I've missed out on XI & XII...I think on average the DQ series has the FF series beat...Pretty much every DQ is extremely enjoyable, where there are a couple FFs I could definitely live without, but to be fair there are a couple more FFs than DQs, I suppose...They also focus on different aspects within the genre, really...The DQ series has almost always been more about gameplay than story & characters (though I think it's picked up on those two aspects quite well with the last few)...I'm pretty sure that the Japanese love to level grind and I think the DQ series is a testament to that...>_>

Ive only ever played dragon quest VIII so i have to say Final Fantasy. DQ VIII was an absolutely amazing game, i loved the graphics and the gameplay was brilliant. I rate this game as high as any FF game, but due to the fact that its the only title i've played i vote for FF.
