Ok, so my birthday is coming up pretty soon, so my mom said she'd buy me one game. Having recently finished FFX, I loved it and it left me wanting more. So, I'm gonna get a second FF game. The question is: which one?
I have three that I want to play the most, which are: VII, VIII, and XII.
I started playing the PC version of VII, and I really liked it but now my computer refuses to play it. I really want to play it because, well, it's one of the most popular FF's. FF VIII has a love story, which is awesome because I really like those. But maybe these two games are a bit outdated because they came almost ten years ago, but if they're really good then I don't mind.
XII is the most recent one and from what I've heard, it's got a pretty intriguing story.
So, I really don't know which one to get. So, any comments would be very much appreciated.

Well, get VII, it's a classic. And because it's dirt cheap, you could probably get VIII aswell. >_< Combined they'd cost the same amount as XII.

VII certainly has the best character bases and storyline aswell.
With an excellent OST to go with it.

Not necessarily true. FFVII is sky-rocketing through the roof at times on eBay, so your best bet would be to pick FFVII up at a local retail game store if you can for a better price. BUt yeah, you will do great with any game you pick up. Seriously, FFI-FFXII are great no matter when you paly them, it only gets better.

FFIX was one of my favorites, so you definitely have to give that a try soon.

FFVII is largely recognised as the best in the serires, and I'm one of them too. It has one of the best stroylines and the characters are excellent. I'd definitely recommend that you play that one.

FFIX is great and I would also recommend that. You said you have played FFVII and you enjoyed it so I would go for that game and try and finish it.

My personal Favorites are FFVII and IX.
They aren't lacking in very many places at all.
FFVIII had a love story, but it was crumby compared to the other ones.

If you ask me, I'd say, pick whichever your first instincts tell you to get, or rather, let your heart decide ---- I mean, they're all really great games.

Pssst...VIII you should try later on, after you actually play the better games of the series. No offense, VIII people.

But for my personal opinion: Take IX. Busta's right. IX is a good play, especially since it doesn't cost that much, at least not as much as VII.

Out of the ones you've mentioned I'd be inclined to go for VIII. A lot of people disliked it after VII but a lot of people including myself can appreaciate both of 'em, the world in the game is well put together and the games system is also a winner.

VII is a good start but if you've already played through some of it you may want something new instead.

XII is my second favourite of the series but I'd be inclined to say don't go for it, it's the most different from the other games and probably has an even bigger split in opinion than VIII.

i would have to go for VII! or maby XII.
ive never playes IX so i wouldent know about that and i thought VIII was *ahem* boring. but thats completly my opinion.
However just look at the VII fanbase. LOADS of people love the game and it is completly worth the money!

Ok, I just bought FF VIII of Amazon, because it was very cheap. The only question I have is: the game will work on the PS2, right? Because if not, I'd have to wait for Christmas to get the PS1.

You're going to have a hard time getting VII so I would get IX offline. Since you like romance you'll like this game because I think it has the best romance.

Yes you will need a PS1 memory card but if you plan on getting FFVII, VIII and IX at some point (not all at once) then you might want more than one memory card as it is always recommended to have backup saves in an FF game and the PS1 memory cards don't have a lot of saves. I had to go back and delete all my FFIX saves except for the 2 saves at the end so I could create multiple saves for FFVIII.
