i recently saw a post on the internet about final fantasy 7 that i found interesting. the christain calender goes from BC - birth of jesus - AD

final fantasy 7 (in terms of when the game is set) goes:-
Before Crisis - Crisis Core - ff7 - Advent children - Dirge of cerberus

B C ---- A D

just thought it was interesting.

any comments?

I think he's going:

Before Crisis + Crisis Core = BC
and
Advent Children + Dirge of Cerburus = AD

FFVII = Jesus?
Makes sense.

Jesus took on Satan and his minions in a series of lame anime fights where the laws of gravity don't apply and the dumber your haircut the better your odds at winning.

Finally it was Jesus vs. Satan. Satan summoned a bunch of clouds that served no readily explained purpose except to add some cheap atmosphere. Then Satan underestimated the power of Jesus and our Lord unleashed the "Raptor Jesus X5" which obliterated the rest of Satan's life points, forever banishing him to the Shadow Realm.

However, the Satanists made ther own Bible where they explained the clouds had a purpose and Satan is actually the strongest being in existence.
All those times he was defeated?
Pure flukes they say.

Then after this in the Book of Dumbassus Ploticus they explained how St. Vincent of the Goths was in fact far stronger than Jesus despite the fact he was nothing more than an Apostle. Even as an Apostle, if your fanbase is large enough, your power can surpass Jesus.

I could keep this up all day but I'm bored now.

Jesus > FFVII.
Even if you just take it as a fictional work, The Bible's plot is way better than anything in 7 which has produced a series of amazingly sub-par drivel sequals and prequals just to make money.

And that theory doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Nikkolas watch the way you word things.

Barnezy was just point out that the intitials of the FFVII spin off games are simular to the calandar A.D and BC that we use. I do not think that he implied that the story of FFVII was simular to the story of Jesus.

Although now the more politically correct way is B.C.E. and A.C.E.

(Before Common Era and After Common Era)

Yeah, sorry for the tangent.

HOwever, where did you hear BCE and ACE?
I've never heard those before.

It's ok ^_^

As for ACE and BCE, they are just now used. At school, we are required to use A.C.E. and B.C.E. It just more sensitive to those who are not religious.

Now to get this thread back on topic. ;)

I guess that could be what he meant. I was just thrown off because Before Crisis does have the initials BC. XD

addelboy is right. it was quite a had thing to explain.

nikkolas - i wasn't comparing ff to jesus, just pointing out that it bares resemblance.

lolwut? This is just grasping for straws. I don't think SE had that in mind when making any of the VII games.

I think ACE and BCE have been around for quite a while actually, they're just used more commonly now. My mom threw a fit a couple weeks ago when she heard my dad mention it. She was all "BLAH IT R POLITICALLY CORRECT AND TAKIN JEBUS OUT OF SCHOOLS!"

Yeah, seems a bit of a stretch to me. As for BCE and ACE I first learned about them in middle school...so they've been around for at least five years or so.

listen guys. they meant to do it. don't take this away from me!

Yeah um, no they didn't. They're a gaming company who likes to whore out characters, they wouldn't bother making obscure references to the Christian calendar.

Plus, it's Before Christ to Anno Domini. BC to AD. Not BC to CC to FF7 to AC to DoC.

i'm only gunna explain this once. YOU TAKE THE FIRST LETTER OF THE GAME. it can't be a couincidence that the date set puts them in that order.

Before Crisis (ff7) Advent Dirge

I think there's a pretty strong chance it's a coincidence...

shit thread is shit. :monster:

I see what you're saying man, but it seems like just a coincidence to me. I don't see why they would have done it on purpose.
