This blog is usually pretty damm reliable and if it's true i cant wait. :D

Final Fantasy VII will be getting a “new” version of the classic game from the massive franchise and it will be exclusive (for now at least) to the PLAYSTATION 3. It is unclear whether a new version will be a simple remake or an extension to the original like Crisis Core, and if it will be a Blu-ray release, or on the PSN. Something else which won’t be exclusive is the original FF7 which will be coming to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade by the end of the year.

I'm personally looking for an FFVII announcement in some capacity at either their DKS3717 event in early August or the Tokyo Game Show which I think is around October.

I think it's already official that something else in the FFVII Compilation is forthcoming. They want it to continue until its twentieth anniversary, which will be the beginning of 2017. So clearly there is something else coming, but it probably won't be a remake of the original game, based on what they've already said.

This sounds awesome, its just another reason to add on to my long list of reasons to get a PS3. Plus who hasnt wanted this since they showed that one video at E3.

Please put more effort into your post. One liners are considered spam. Why do you want an FFVII remake?

I hope that is infact true, because that would be awesome. I wonder that that other thing they mentioned is..sounds interesting. Well we will just have to see ^^.

I'd rather have a remake than another spin off, you can only have so many sequels, prequels, movies, anime of 1 story line. to be honest SE have spin off'ed ff7 to death it should be either a remake or nothing.

I agree with the poster above, and say in addition to that the only thing that should be improved in the remake is the graphics, and maybe add voice-overs

Another thread about a remake?! :gasp:

Anyway, I really do hope this is true. We've been hearing rumors about a possible remake for years now though, so I'm not going to believe anything until I hear it directly from the horse's mouth.

It would be awesome if they did put the original FF7 on the Playstation Network though. In fact, I'd love it if they put all of the PS1 FF games on there.

Wouldn't that remove the rarity and exclusivity of such games?

I would love a Final Fantasy VII remake. However, I don't have a PS3, so, I would need to buy one to play this. However, I would be 100% willing to buy a PS3 just for this remake.

Unlike many who would like to see new things added to it, I don't want that. Final Fantasy VII is, in my opinion, one of the few games on earth that if you mess with it, it may get worse, not better.

Also, the thing with adding more features is that since everyone got so accustom to the things in the first Final Fantasy VII, if they added more things to it, people may start to not like it as much. While I personally don't believe that, game developers will always keep this in mind.

The only think I would be looking forward to is seeing all of the great cut-scenes in high quality, other than that, I'll stick to my original copy.

erm.. I guess so. But is that really a bad thing?

If the put them on the network, gamers who can't get their hands on a copy of the older games would be given a chance to play them. That's a good thing because it is extremely hard to find copies of them any more. Who cares about rarity and exclusitivity? The whole point is to make them not rare any more so more people can enjoy them.

Same here! I hope they add va's as well though

I'm sorry but what? If they continue to make FFVII games all the way up until 2017, people are going to be seriously sick of it. DoC is a prime example. I'm sure there's something else coming and that's great, but where's your source on this information. I just honestly can't see SE focusing on FFVII for the next 9 years. It's just ridiculous.

if they make a remake i will have to run around my town screaming SQUARE ENIX RULES

I agree with everything, except the "sick of it" thing. After all, you don't get tired of fairground rides as a whole, you get tired of rides similar to each other, e.g. teacup waltzers. You'll get tired of Cloud, but not FFVII. See what I mean?

Yes, it can happen. Too much new stuff is going to really just going to make the series drag - why not let the world of FFVII alone? Leave it as it is? You're going to ruin the originality eventually, and everything's going to be half assed eventually, and that's already kinda shown in some prequels/sequels.

The compilation of final fantasy VII series will be going on until its 20th anniversary (2017) so im pretty sure there will be a remake at some point. I can very well see the last game in the series being the remake:)

I think a remake would be fantastic !It would be nice if they changed the game play a bit.like if you get to play the battle aginst sephiroth with genesis.make it to where you control the move.like kingdom hearts.

I'd like to think the same trxd, but it would seem too good to be true, I'm not going to be getting my hopes up for it until the day it is officially announced that there will be one, and who knows if and when that will be...

I can pretty much guarantee that we'll know whether there will be a Final Fantasy VII remake made or not in less than a decade, so we won't be old when he get our answer, but some of us could possibly be getting close to middle aged by that time, not me though. :P

It could possibly end up being my favourite game of all time if they did it, and had all the old playable characters playable still, without cutting out Nanaki as they have in all the spin offs...-_-

Here is a source. It says:
While Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation Portable was generally believed the be the final installment of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, Wada thinks the Final Fantasy VII franchise will be alive for two decades, meaning ten more years.
Wada is Square Enix's president. I don't know how far the ambiguity in the word "thinks" extends.

SE certainly won't be focusing on FFVII for 9 more years. It's always working on lots of projects simultaneously. The same article mentions lots of things SE is working on, and plans for "original games" too.

As for getting sick of it - it depends. Some people will get sick of it; others will lap up everything they get and will still want more. It depends also on the quality and originality of the games they come up with.
