Final Boss Issue

Ok, so I'm approaching Chaos on my 4 white mage party, and I just want to know: about how much easier will the fight be if I got the Ultima Weapon first?

note: I play the GBA version, and there you get the Ultima Weapon by clearing every level in the Whisperwind Cove and then finding a treasure room on your way out (it's in there). Also I could use the Whisperwind Cove for getting Thor's Hammers in the "all mage town" and War Hammers in the Pravoka-like town if I reach there on a later floor...

So would venturing to the Whisperwind Cove make it easier? I already have the Masamune and all of my white mages have the Holy spell anyways...

what level would be a good time to go to the whisperwind cove though? i tried at lv 40 but i had such huge problems with just typhon...

Then, obviously, you should go at a higher level.

I think if you are having trouble fighting Typhon than you will have more fighting Chaos. Sensible innit?

well yeah, which is why i'm trying to get the ultima weapon first. obviously i need to get to a decent level to take on the Whisperwind Cove (the phantom train and death gaze shouldn't be much of a problem though; they're undead), and then i have to find a decent training spot in which to get to that level (i went to the whisperwind cove at lv 85 on my standard party (F/Th/WM/BM), but i'm obviously not going to train for that long; my white mages are lv 40 right now, and there aren't many undead areas to train at this point)

Have fun. I had a ninja, warrior, white mage, and a red mage. I killed a million zombie dragons in the Citadel trial and got at least 30 megalixirs and got to level 99 killing them. The last boss wasn't even a challenge....
