Help [FFXIV] Horrid Lag - Help!

Ok so I bought a brand new gaming computer last year specifically for playing mmorpg's and I can't figure out why I lag so badly when trying to play FFXIV. Here's my computers specs:

I am using an HP Athlon(tm) II x4 620 Processor 2.6GHz
with 8GB of RAM, 1TB Hard Drive, NVIDIA 9100 GeForce card for graphics

I zip through games like WoW with no problems but its taking 5-6 seconds for the commands to cast or to even move my character so ... somethings definitely not right. I went in and adjusted all the game setting to the very minimum and occassionally I'll get 2-3 minutes of smooth play befor it goes right back to quicksand speed. Any advice?

Please put in simplest terms as I am not that computer savvy - just love to game. Thanks!

Your graphics card seems a bit underpowered for the game. I think the minimum requirements are a nvidia 9600... I haven't checked but the 9100 you mentioned might be worse.

Try to reduce the screen resolution as much as possible. This game will wipe the floor with all but the most powerful computers, so you may have to buy a new card to make the game playable.
