I just wondered if it was possible to 5-star every single thing in this game without a preemptive strike, or do I have to use it sometimes?

The only one you will need a preemptive strike on is Mark number thirty five which is the road less traveled. Gurangatch has an extreme defense, and you will not be able to five star it till you are really strong. I would recommend doing most of the other missions before trying this one. It really is not hard but you ABSOLUTELY need to strike first to even five star this mission . Hope I helped :)

Another two missions I'd reccomend using the deceptisol shroud would be mission 21 and mission 60. I've tried both mission, doing it WITH the golden watch and with a full maxed out party and still failed. The gelatitan in mission 21 one is pretty tough to stagger, getting rid of the other two monsters wont be a problem, but I wouldnt reccoment doing it as he can revive them and call even more, so it's best to just use the deceptisol and go for gelatitan first. For mission 60 the stagger rate can be easily achieved however there are 3 monsters, and time will be a big problem. So I'd reccomend using a deceptisol staggering all three (COM/RAV/RAV) and then switching to (COM/COM/RAV). That's the easiest way, once you have killed at least two the other one shouldnt be much of a problem.......

does this count as, if you dont get 5 stars and go fight it again and then get 5stars? or does it have to be everybattle straight up 5stars?

Well, of course you can retry. It would be impossible if you had to 5 star everything in one go. Yes you can go back and 5 star the mission if lets say you got a 3 star, 4 star or whatever. :)
