Help FFXIII: How often does death work ?

I have been trying to kill Adamantoise using the instant death, Vanille is maxed out rank 5 for SAB. I use the summon trick at the beginning and debuff as much as I can and still no luck, is there any other ways to raise my chances of killing it with death? I am using Malboro wand with debuff II but I don't think it helps at all.

with all debuff, level maxed out, leader bonus etc, there is a 2% chance of death working sooo not very often shall we call it XD

If you're using death, there's a 1% chance of success
Veil increases chance by 1.2x
Curse Increases chance by 1.2x
Leader Role Bonus - level 4 1.33x - level 5 1.4x
Allies Role Bonus - level 2 1.04x - level 3 1.08x - level 4 1.08x - level 5 1.12x
Belladonna Wand - 1.2x - Malboro Wand 1.4x

So if Vanille is role level 5 with Malboro, Veil and Curse is 2.2% chance of death, add two other level 5 allies and its 2.24% chance of death.
