FFXII: Help with Mist Charges

Alright Ladies and Gents,

I'll admit I'm not that good at Mist Charges and such. I can get a concurrence to happen at a 75% rate, but that's where the problem comes in.

It's easy enough to do Inferno - all you need are 3 lvl 1 mist charges.

I can only get up to 9 combos though, I've heard people get 21 !!!!!! How do they do this?! I'm trying to get the black hole to occur which means every other concurrence that I do is by complete accident, I usually end up getting Arc Blast or Torrent or some other random Concurrence, which is nice, but I want to be good at this stuff, because some of these side quests are getting a little tougher.

So yea Black Hole is..

4 lvl 1 charges
4 lvl 2 charges
4 lvl 3 charges

That's twelve combos altogether... BUT HOW?! Hey at least I admit when I suck.

I'm lvl 63, 62, 62 - with my main characters, so I basically use pure strategy since I don't know if I can pull off a good Concurrence or not.

Help would be appreciated.. I just defeated Gilgamesh and used 3 Concurrences on him (luck) - his dog Enkidu was ... hard this time around.
 
Yeah I admit defeat in this topic too. I really suck at quickenings, probly why I never use them. Ive never had too actually. I noticed pressing "R2" sometimes makes the option appear to use it again, but other than that I dont know how to use them well either.
 
Well I push R2 then click all three at the same time - I just got a chain of 12 today, but..............You guessed it I didn't do 4 4 and 4 - Quickenings are challenging, and maybe it's showing something about my reflexes..
 
I cant get a chain more than 4, I dont have all of them yet anyway. I just dont see them being all that useful early in the game. Time runs out too fast for me to do anything. If you figure it out let me know Id like to try and get it.
 
The most I have gotten is 15. They are great when you are taking on a boss of any kind.
 
I totally suck at them too, it's basically just luck for me, I'm pressing R2, but then the commands go away so quick, it's sooo frustrating! lol Lemme know if you find out any tips...
 
For those of you that haven't already, try to activate as many quickenings as you can for each character and have all of the characters in your party that have quickenings when you start your chain.

I just added a second quickening to Basch. Now I have 2 for Vaan and 2 for Basch. The first fight I used them together I had a 9 chain. Most of the time, the timer started with at least one button press ready to go. I could just imagine the size of my chains when I get more quickenings activated.
 
most ive gotten are 14 hit combo quickening. but wasnt enough to do the black hole. still working on it. and yes its very hard to pull them off.
 
The best I ever achieved is 18. Now i can get to 10 easily. Never achieved black hole yet, working on it.

The trick that I use is simple. When doing a quickening, use a lvl.1 quickening, not a 2 or 3. That way, your going to be able to pull off 3 chains with the same character without using Mist Charge. If you can use only lvl 1, you can get easily to a chain of 9! Of course, chances are your going to pull-off lvl 2 or 3 instead but if you have to choose between 1 or higher, choose lvl 1.

Another tip: Don't use Mist Charge or Shuffle unless you need to. That means for example if you have to choose between Red Spiral or Mist Charge, choose Red Spiral. The reason is simple: When using Mist Charge or Shuffle, it takes away a lot of time compared to a quicknening. The more time you take to make a selection, the less time you'll have for the next chain. By avoiding Mist Charge, i've been able to chain about 9 hits and had about has much time for the 10th hit as I did for the 1st.

Also, mash the same button you pressed for a Mist Charge. EX: After pressing X for a Mist Charge, immediatly start mashing the X button to execute the attack as fast as possible.

Here, again, is what I recommand:
- Use lvl 1 attacks as much as possible to get higher chain.
- Avoid Mist Charge and Shuffle unless you need to.
- Mash the same button you pressed for a Mist Charge.

So your priority should be to execute commands that take the less time.
Im at lvl.30 and get about 9-12 hits easily using these tips.
 
best quickening chain ive done is 17 and i was 2 lv2 quickenings from a blackhole argggh.
