I have reached the Seymour Flux fight. I heard many people having a tough time with him, so I wanted to try to get around the Sphere Grid as much as possible. The problem is though, I'm stuck around a whole bunch of Lv.3 Key Spheres and I don't have any. I wasn't able to steal any during the Kimahri-only fight because I didn't have Steal on Kimahri. I have put Zombie Ward on some armor for everyone. Seymour's Cross Cleave attack is my main problem, it deals over 2000 damage, and some of the party is barely over that in HP. I don't have enough time to heal, and things start going wrong then. ^^;

My sphere levels are low, and I'm not sure what to do. Should I try going down other characters paths? Should I be doing something different with my weapons and armor?

Make sure to cast Hastega (or whatever it's called) and Protect on your party, I think... although Flux will attempt to nullify them so you might have to cast the spells again occassionally.

go into the battle with aeons overdrives built up. they should deal 9999 damage so you can better out like 60000 damage when you use them all. i found albhed potions pretty damn usefull aswell in that fight for healing.
Been years since i played that game but im pretty sure thats how ive always went about it. Thats a tough fight on a first playthru.

As Lew said, having full Aeon overdrives is a huge help for this fight. Al Bhed Potions are also pretty nifty too.
The Aeons will probably get killed straight after they do their overdrive, but it's totally worth it, just say an overdrive did 5000 damage, that's 5000 + 4000 off the mortiorchis absorb if it's his first 'death'.
I think Shell reduces the damage of Cross Cleave, not protect. It seems to be where a lot of people fall down on that battle, sticking Protect on and then it not having any effect. Haste helps a lot, even if it's only one one/two characters, it's still a big help without a doubt.
If Seymour casts reflect on himself, he's preparing to bounce Flare back at you, but if you use Dispel on him he'll cast it on himself for extra damage.

I just went up against Seymour for a second time and I was able to beat him without much problem. I used most of the Overdrives, used Dispel when Protect and Reflect came up (he ended up using Flare on himself. Haha.), then used Bahamut's and Ixion's Overdrives to finish him off. Zombie Ward came in handy, never got the status from that one attack of his.

Thanks, everyone. :)

Flux is an Easy fight if you know how to take him down, here is the battle plan i use for it every time.

Team-
Tidus
Overdrive build mode - Warrior
Overdrive used - normally Blitz ace (i spend a couple hours in the Calm lands Grinding his overdrives to get it)

Yuna:
Overdrive build mode: Healer
all but one of the Aeons with Overdrive ready

Wakka:
Overdrive build mode: Warrior

I Start the boss battle off like any other, Tidus using Hastaga, then before Seymour gets his turn in, my entire party have an attack or two, i'm Straight into Wakka's Attack reels overdrive (Obtained through Blitzball) then with Yuna i Grand summon whichever Aeon didn't have it's overdrive full (Normally Valefor) and use it's overdrive, it gets banished and i have another round of attacks, i use Tidus Blitz ace at this point, and if Wakka gets an attack before Yuna i use Dark Buster on Seymour (if it works his Lance of Zombie causer should miss. then with Yuna i summon and unleash the Overdrive.

I then continue to repeat this process, if by the time all my Aeons have unleashed their overdrives and Flux is still standing, i focus on keeping my party alive, and unleash Blitz ace as soon as possible.
