Help [FFX] Lava

I'm at the Thunder Plains right now and a few times I have got put into a random battle there has been this thing which I think is called Lava? and it's like a blue hovering thing that kinda glows or lights up? I'm not sure what form of attack to use on it, what kills it or takes it's energy down? I find that using magic attacks just seems to give it more magic, powers it's magic, makes it stronger. What is the best form of attack on it that actually does something? this might be a silly question to some people lol but I don't know how to kill it, it keeps killing all my characters!! I think I did remember reading a tutorial on this fiend where you could have a practice battle against it, but can't remember now what hurts it. And it keeps doing a thundera attack on me.

Water does heavy damage to the Larva, and it occasionally rejuvenates itself with Thundara. Casting Nulshock on it can negate this. That's the best I can advise you.
