I actually posted this story before, but I realized this section changed well after I made my initial thread a year ago, so I'm re-posting it here >.<

Timeline: Post FFVII, pre-Advent Children, but I'm sure it's AU *shrugs*
Rating: Meh, 16+ I suppose?
Genre: Romance, Angst, one-sided (or at least what I was trying to go for)
Description: "I hate you. You had the gall to come into our lives, MY life, and then you left after you made a place in my heart. Before I could even tell you how much I loved you..."

This is really the first fanfic I wrote and here I am putting it online, so I appreciate any and all input on my writing >.<

For the third night in a row, eyes flickered open in the dark room. It was warm tonight, so the sheets had been unconsciously pushed down to reveal a firm stomach, showing off various scars; some faint and a few still vivid against the flesh. Some had been gained from various encounters with random beasts and a few had come from enemies alike.

A somewhat calloused hand slid through strands of hair before rubbing sleepy eyes that demanded to fall over the vibrant orbs without the mind restlessly staying awake and keeping the body in the same state.

But the reason for sleep deprivation had been considered good enough to the mind's rationale.

The sparkling green eyes and kind smile framed by twining brown locks of hair constantly teased at the consciousness, demanding acknowledgment to their owner's existence in the world

"Aerith..." came the hushed murmur

Automatically turning to the side to see if the other bed's occupant had heard, feeling somewhat scandalous for saying the name of another in a shared bed. But the other was still sleeping, breathing deeply none the wiser.

Unable to help it, the face shifted into a scowl, envious of the lover who was so at ease, but relaxed soon after. Being angry for such a reason was pointless and unnecessary.

I miss you…” the thought came easily then, a sentiment repeated so many times and for so long it’s only reference was to the flower girl now

It was still boggling how life had lost its sparkle when the Cetra’s precious life had been so cruelly snuffed out. There had been so little time before with the young woman in pink, and still she had made such an impact.

Her misleading appearance as a damsel in distress had beguiled her true strength and confidence. The timid looking flower girl had been shockingly street smart and coy, having taught many things to one who had been a country bumpkin.

It’s not fair…You shouldn’t have died. You should still be here…with me…

The image of Aerith kneeling so serenely on the fated alter like an angel. Praying with such a calm expression-no, a smile. A smile that was so heart breaking in it's beauty it would make one weep on the sight alone.

But no, instead choked gasps of disbelief had been uttered instead when another angel who had fallen so far and ended her life there and then.

The memory of stroking the brunet’s hair before she had been laid to rest came to mind, fingers tingling in remembrance at the feel of the silky strands. A tightened knot began to form in the throat, eyes nearly watering at the raw emotion of misery and loss.

Damn it…I hate feeling like this…I hate you,” came the thought then, before the figure sat up in bed, the unzipped shirt sliding off a bit from one side from being a few sizes too big.

I hate you. You had the gall to come into our lives, MY life, and then you left after you made a place in my heart. Before I could even tell you how much I loved you...” the fighter thought, desperately scrubbing at the quickly watering eyes. Slender legs swung over the bed and stood up, Cloud’s tank top hanging on the frame.

Looking back, weary eyes saw the blond swordsman stir a bit, turning to face where a body had been sleeping. A somewhat disgruntled sound came when an arm stretched out and didn’t make contact with the form that should have been there.

“Sorry, just for a little while more,” came the murmur before the form headed to vanity stand and reaching out to open a simple wooden jewelery box. It was sparse as it was; really only holding the pale skinned figure’s mother’s pearl earrings and a few macaroni noodle jewelery pieces Marlene and Denzel had made in their efforts to show their affection.

However, only one item held the half lidded eyes’ attention. It was a simple length of pink satin. The kind used to tie ones hair together.

The one that had held Aerith’s hair together.

It had fallen off when she had been struck, and with all the commotion it had gone almost unnoticed, but had been picked up and quickly hidden away from others' eyes. It was something that garnet eyes had wanted to stare at alone.

“Can you hear me now maybe? Do you know how much I care for you,” Tifa murmured before rubbing her cheek against the cheap fabric that was a worth far more than any mountain of raw materia.

How do you put a price on the ache called longing and love?

Rofl, did anyone see that coming? :awesome:

Again, comments appreciated ^^

I was a bit confused there for a minute! :gasp:

At first I thought it was Zack in bed with Cloud. XD

Then I saw the
Slender legs swung over the bed and stood up, Cloud’s tank top hanging on the frame.
bit and I thought that it had to of been a girl.

But then I got confused again and thought, 'Why would it be a girl thinking of Aerith like that?'

Then it turned out that it was Tifa. XD

Excellent writing my dear!

You're very descriptive and you really kept me interested and made me re-read certain parts in order to figure out who this person was. XD

Your grammar, punctuation and spelling is great!

This was a lovely read!

Oh my, I did not see that coming. I'm so used to the Cloud angsting over Aerith that I completely didn't see the possibility of it being Tifa. Which just boggled my mind.

The description was very well done and I didn't really see any grammatical errors. And I love that you didn't reveal who it was (Even though I tend to automatically assume).

I really enjoyed it!

Whoa, haven't checked this thread in a while! Thank you guys for your feedback! I feel more confident about posting more of my other fanfiction now ^^

I would've just come clean and had written the story with the readers already knowing it was Tifa yearning for Aerith, but I wanted to try to do a bit of a shock factor by revealing the identity in the end to make it more interesting. And I think just writing about someone angsting over someone else is a little boring :P

Also I was worried about the story not being well received for being female/female implied, but I'm glad to see that wasn't really the case ^^

Heh interesting little story there. I wasn't shocked due to the fact that I read the comments first before I read the story. :awesome:

And I agree, you're definitely good at this. Your eye for detail is definitely up there, so keep it up!
