Ok, so I just did Thamasa and now I all I have to do before the World of Ruin is go to the Floating Continent. Atma Weapon resides there so I was wondering at what levels did people tackle him, because he seems quite hard. Also any general tips for beating him would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I believe an old tip I think I tried out once was draining his MP with Rasp and/or Osmose. It might just depend on who you bring, though...I think I always brought Sabin & Edgar (Blitzes & Tools rule everything's face in FFVI). Shell might help since it uses mostly magic-based attacks, I think...it's been a while.

I used Terra, Locke, Sabin and Shadow at level 29 or 30, but I can't remember what strategy I used to defeat the boss.

Just level up to a certain amount higher then what you should. He isn't that hard, it took me less then a 2 minutes to beat him really. Tools, Blitz etc, lots of strong physical attacks.

I was fairly young (well, not really, I would have been about 13.. But still... Younger, dumber, and tactically naf) when I played through FF6, and perhaps not as skilled as I am now, so when I first met Atma Weapon I got my ass handed to me... In fact I didn't play the game for a few years (not because I was bored, but because I couldn't get past it any time i tried!).

Osmose and rasp to drain his mp is the tactics you hear everywhere but when I tried it rasp and osmose did very little to him, so it'll be a long fight anyway if you're as weak as I was. Just keep thrashing him with Sabin and Edgar. Try the mp drain thing as well if you can, but keep fighting him and healing / shelling at the same time.

Once you get past him, you shouldn't have as much of a problem with any other boss in FF6.. At least thats how it worked for me.. Perhaps I just became a better gamer?

Anyway, if you didn't run form most battles when you played the game, you should be fine. I, however, when I was younger ran from most battles and was incredibly weak at this point.

Sit back, enjoy the kick-ass music, and good luck!
