FFF Merge Progress

Hello, I'm Chad, the other administrator to the fellow Final Fantasy Forums. I'd really like to point out a few things, one pertaining to danielroch's post. Indeed we've gone through a bit with faulty staff members, but they have been taken care of accordingly I assure you. Our board is very secure, and needn't be put down because staff has drastically changed since those days. What's in the past is in the past; we have moved on and have learned from mistakes.

As to the question of members, our forum is composed of a very tight-knit community, extremely nice and kind. No I'm not just saying this because I'm an administrator to the place *chuckles* You needn't take my word for it either - most of our members are joined here already, so decide for yourself. We're mainly veterans who know the rules and write worthwhile posts, keeping spam for the designated area/s. Reading back I saw some comments on the quality of our RPs ( D: ) I hope you've read further in because we've definately improved since then! I'm an interested RPer myself; it would be great to have a wider variety of topics and scenarios to weave a plot through.

As to activity, admittedly we have declined greatly since our early days. The remakes in boards caused us to make the same topics again and again; therefore basically sucking the fun out of what was there. However we have made advances this forum has not, and your forum has advances that ours does not have. The new areas will benefit activity for sure.

Finally to the staff issue, I can't say I'm too concerned with it. We have hard-working individuals in the appropriate places and enforce the basic rules and regulations: I'm sure the way things are run aren't too different. With the growing board, a bit more staff wouldn't hurt.

Indeed there are concerns to the merge, nothing ever has 100% thumbs up. I guess we'll just have to view more input and decide whether or not to take the leap. For the members!

Now, I do admit, you guys got something working, but I wish I could see the same for every thread. No, I am not asking everyone to be at the same level of experience, but, though I do see good work, I'm just not feeling it.

I believe if we are to merge, that we need to also create an RP community that is hopefully better than what we both have now. I'm a dedicated roleplayer myself, and I'd be glad to help make things better. Honestly, I do not find joy in commenting about your roleplays from somewhere else, when I could be doing something about it. I can assure you, I'm not all talk, I can be determined to do something, and that is making things better for an RP community should you guys decided to merge.

Once again, I LOVE, absolutely love your originality. Decent quality, as far as members making the best of it; but I think it needs work, and I want to help.

Ah yes I'm aware every thread isn't exactly gold *chuckles* The members are entertained and building skills within the topics though, and with each post I do believe we're getting better. I've seen a lot of improvement from the first post to the last so far; it's always great to see that occur. I agree with you - if this merge occurs I'd definately like to explore and expand the RP section. It has a lot of potential to grow and develope, and proves to be a great place to just get creative and have a lot of fun =) It's good to have your support mate.

I also like the way you've setup vBulletin. Some parts I will need to get used to but on the whole you have done a great job.

I am against this idea.More people is good, but when alot of new people come and the website changes, it gets kind of annoying. Right now some people are able to get along. I think that works easier with less people. Right now some of the newer people have been getting on the nerves of some of the members I've talked to. I think that more members would be a problem.

I can understand your feelings about this, to tell the truth i feel the same, but i've been looking over the forum, and most of the members here arn't any differnt then the ones at our FFF.

In my opinion, I will say the exact same thing I said on FFF. I really don't care what happens. My interest in forums lately have decrease dramatically over the past couple of weeks. Yeah I enjoy posting with certain people but it's not like the end of the world. I have more fun chatting with them on MSN. I already have an account with the other forum and whatever happens, happens. To tell you the truth, forums are just forums. They are all the same. Merging with another forum won't make a difference. You will always put up with the spamming, flamming, and constant forum drama where ever you go. You will just basically be wasting your time.

I know what you mean.

But don't you like meeting new people? Sure, most will get on your nerves now, but only time will tell the difference between friends and foes. My point is that we give these guys a chance. We adapt and see what happens. I get the feeling you'd disagree though. . .

Seems like it is going ahead regardless, so we'll have to put up with it. But then what's going to happen to threads I've made especially, like the General FF favourites? My help threads? What if there are members with same names, won't they get merged too? Huh, someone tell me that please, how it's going to work? I will also work only under the rule of Darkblade, and if I seem grumpy at all, I'm still very tired and unsure of this whole thing. If my threads do get lost or damaged in the process, I won't be happy.

What will happen to the extra club sections that we have? Where are THEY going to go?

From what Dr J has told us we are just moving a posts and members across. I don't think anyone’s topics will be removed (from here).

I'm also guessing that DarkBlade will make a backup of this forums database so if something goes wrong he can just import that. What I'm unsure of is how an Invision Power Board 1.3 database can be merged with a vBulletin one. This process sounds like its going to take sometime. Do you have any idea of how this will work?

I have a very bad feeling about this and I trust my instincts.
Well at the very least if something goes wrong I can yell at Db to get over it.
Though if all the work I have done goes down the drain I myself may decide more drastic action is required.

I am from the other FFF and so my mainj thoughts are there. At first I was a bit uncertain on the idea, but I think it'll be really cool. It'll be a great chance to meet new friends, because we're all nice there, honest And you'll probably get to experience some really good topics, because we have really good disucussions that we could bring here. Vincent, I understand exactly what you're saying. The n00b's can really become annoying sometimes, but we were all n00b's once.

If it's the same "X" number of members, we will talk about the same things, in the same threads, leading to constant spam, banning, arguments and what not. The merger seems good, although I understand fully exactly how the staff might feel. No offense to the other administrators, but you aren't worried about a job because you're admins, you're not lilkely to be sacked.

I see nothing wrong with that idea too but for some reason i was banned by some admin without even visiting the site to begin with just said i was auto banned lol...........im sure its not this forum but i tried another forum just like this one and was auto banned.........but its a good idea to always be growing

I didn't mean you would get deleted . I meant the people that are signed up here that are members of our FFF would be.
