FF7 pc version problem..stuck, cause of controls?

Hi everyone. So I've been playing Final Fantasy 7 again, this time on PC. I've played it numerous times on the PS so this is a first for me. I'm enjoying it overall although I have to play with my keyboard and it gets tidious sometimes (like times like these)..

anyway on to my problem I'm on the Shinra boat, and I can't seem to walk past this point, the Shinra solider is in front of me and even if I go like UP + LEFT Cloud just can't pass through...any help..pleaaase?
 
Getting up that ladder, you mean? I think I've had problems in the same place. It's a real pain in the butt to navigate in that game... and the PC controls don't help. Um... just do the usual... spaz out and hope you get up there?
 
no not p the ladder. up the ladder youve only got a save point and redxiii walking around in a shinra uniform and u cant get to the front of the boat when your on the top part. its at the bottom far left, thats how u get to the front of the boat but that casa del sol dreaming mofo is in the way and i cant walk past him (left where the red arrow is)
 
do you mean getting past that person?

well thats easy - you have to talk to everyone then go talk to Aeris again, and she'll say something along the lines of "barret hasnt been seen for a while" - and then that person should have gone :)
 
You have to talk to Aeris until she says: "I wonder where Barret is? I hope he's not doing anything stupid."

And wala! The solider is gone.

I think I should make a club that answers the questions of people who need help with the Final Fantasy series.

GUYS....im playing (actually trying) to play FFVII 4 the first time on pc and when i start the game and the main menu pops up that says NEW GAME or CONTINUE....
well im STUCK RIGHT THERE....the key board doesnt work or even move :'(
im gonna kill my self if i dont play the bloody game at least once :'(

EDIT : i figured that it doesnt work on laptops so i moved it to my pc and it worked so dont mind my post...:P
