Final Fantasy Tactics, the original game for Ps1 was a great game. It has such a great storyline and you have to be a true FFveteran to have the will to play all the way through it:especially without the use of cheats. But still, I feel as though FF tactics isn't really appreciated at all by people which makes me angry.

If you ask me, the sequels following this game most likely ruined it's rep, but still, that doesn't take away from it being a great game. Most FF players I know havent even heard of the game and others already own the crappy ones for the handhelds.

We need to give this game a bit more recognition! Sure it may sem hard, but it's tactics, you have to use your brain. FF tactics created a whole world of enjoyment, and I believe it was the first game to create the settings for the world of Ivalice(If I'm wrong, please correct me on this). But the events that follow with the world of Ivalice make no sense.

Where the hell did the humans split into all these different races? What ever happened to the mime job? The one medival world without proper technology has been turned into some sci-fi wonderland with floating ships and sky pirates. It's just not what it used to be.

The remake of fftactics for the psp is what worries me most. Although the videos look and sound fantastic, they've added Luso and Balthier in the mix to make it even more confusing. Now I don't own the game myself but I'm hoping they justified their journey into past Ivalice by making him go through a time machine like they did with cloud. If not that raises even more questions.

The world of Ivalice was ruined with confusion and has become a jumbled mess of even more races and weapons and a mix of medieval and futuristic...things. I honestly think that FFTactics has lost it's good name to it's sequels and FF12(Maybe they could have named their worlds something other than Ivalice...)...You can just see from the tiny sect. on this site of how "cherished" this particular game is.

FF TACTICS DESERVES PROPER RESPECT! Rawrs!

Apparently, Tactics takes place a long time after Tactics Advance, Tactics A2, and Final Fantasy XII. All of the races besides the humes have been wiped out completely. Now, in regards to your rant, I thoroughly enjoyed Tactics, but I also enjoyed the other Ivalice games. As far as I'm concerned, Square is giving them all proper respect. Tactics saw a remake and a rerelease on PSN, so really what else would you have them do? Taint it with spin offs like FFVII?

Noes! Im sayin they are spinoffs in a way. And I'm not sayin the game company needs to respect them more, that was more for then FFfans... To tell you the truth I don't really like the spinoff...And yea, I did hear that FF12 took place before Tactics, but I didn't say the others. Now there was this site I was reading from that explains how the history of Ivalice is vague seeing that the religion in FF12 is Older that Tactics, yet tactic's religion was something completely different.

Even if it's in the past:Time Machine? That part still makes no sense and how all races diappeared except for humans...

As much as I would like to go on my knees are hurting cause I don't have a chair so until nextime bai.

I don't really think the other Ivalice games take away from FFT in any way. I like them all in different ways. FFTA disappointed me because the plot was no where near as deep or as interesting as the original, but the game was still fun to play and showed me the company hadn't forgotten their Tactics games. FF12 is completely different except for a couple of place names and the music style, but those things are a nice throwback to the original.

I have played FFT and WOTL and some of TA, FFXII was good. The Ivalice Alliance is the most rich lore wise compared to any other FF to date. In the original Tactics if you recall they were digging up airships and other higher tech machines all around the world.

my 2 gil :D

I'm with the OP all the way. Unlike the Compilation of FFVII, which actually explores the world of Gaia & expands upon it, Ivalice Alliance has nothing to do with Tactics. The storylines are completely unrelated, irreconcilable with the original, & just utter trash. And in the few occasions where it does connect with the original, it usually only serves to besmirch it. True story: The biggest reason I've heard for people preferring the new games over Tactics is that they "aren't as complicated." WTF?! Deep gameplay & storyline elements are BAD now?

Mombo jumbo

I agree with the OP too. Sure on their own they are all good games. Not so much on FFTA but they were just trying to milk the unique gameplay. But Tactics was so great and then these other games come out and are suppose to be in the same world but they world "changed". If they kept it the same world, towns, cities, fields, ect, without the new layout, it would be a bad ass series. Let us not forget Vagrant Story here too. That game takes place in Ivalice too. Still I would want to look at the maps and say Giza Plains was here in 12 and Zeirchele Falls wasn't too far away. If you compare maps its not the same world, or its just not the same area at all. If you notice though each game only takes place on a small area of Ivalice, look at the maps and you'll see that the land carries on where the towns and places you can go do not.

Actually, FFT takes place on a mainland continent, while FFXII takes place on a penninsula. So it's not even remotely the same, which is one of the things that pissed me off. Also, I hate their justification for the bullshit terrain, which is basically "A wizard did it."

I think the main problem with the FFT sequals is the fact that they were made for the Nintendo audience, which has a knack for having washed down storylines in an attempt to keep the ESRB rating down. Notice the original FFT for the Playstation has a "T" for teens rating and both the sequals are rated "E" for everyone. The greatest storylines in the Final Fantasy series could have never made it as releases for Nintendo systems.

There was never an explanation made of the disaster that supposedly annihilated the viera, banga and other nonhumans.

We ended up with the chronicles of St Ajora and the zodiac braves and all that led to.

Yes FFXII ttok place further down the continent on a peninsula..we never did get to visit Rozzaria which I felt was a shame.
Tactics took place further up the continent...while Vagrant story took place further north.

I had hopes of a further developement of the Ivalice storyline. That seems unlikely now that Matsuno is gone.

TC must not be familiar with the timeline. FFXII rules. And FFT is way after that.

Play Vagrant Story, it takes place after FFT and still maintains the medieval setting.

And on the internet, FFT seems to rightfully be one of the most beloved games ever made. Different story in real life though.

Im personally counting on Fortress to tie in everything.
