Hey Maybe Nnew summons will be confirmed during the next week or 2 until the release of Dissidia Final Fantasy which ones do you think they will be? Is Barbariccia the same arch fiend form FFIV? Also are summons playable if so that is amazing.

I doubt that the summons will be playable, but yes, it is the same Barbariccia that appears in FF IV. No other FF has a Barbariccia in it, other than the remake of FF 1, in which she is an optional boss. Even then though, its the same sprite, so it might as well be the same being.

I think they should have Diablo from ff8 as a summon his attack is amazing

Well Diablos was, initially, one of the summons claimed to have been confirmed as a summon. Sadly that knowledge has been called into question, and has been deleted from Final Fantasy Wikia and Wikipedia as being a truth. However something out there must have told somebody that Diablos was in it, so perhaps there is a chance that he could be.

I don't see why not, as many of the summons seem to be game/character specific. E.g we know that two primarily FF6 summons (Chupon/Typhon and Ultros) are confirmed. So it may make sense to see Diablos make an appearance (to represent FF8) as well.

So far the confirmed summons (updated list) are:
Alexander
Barbariccia
Bomb
Cactuar
Carbuncle
Ifrit
Leviathan
Magic Pot
Shiva
Typhoon
Ultros

There are to be at least 50 summons... So judging that we have 11 properly confirmed now, there are still 39 spaces to fill :D.

If Barbariccia is a summon, does that mean we'll be able to summon Rubicante, Cagnazzo, and that dead dude from IV as well?

Also, I have a feeling that we may be able to summon Gilgamesh. If Ultros is on there, he should be, too!

What would be funny is if we were able to summon Cait Sith. After all, they do need to fill in a lot more spaces.

It would be fantastic to have the 4 fiends, and i would love them to do that. Cagnazzo especially made me lol so much in the game (how can a giant turtle possibly disguise himself as the King, and get away with it?!).
Also Rubicante was quite a good character, and Scarlmilogne / Milon / whoever, would be ok to complete the set. :D They're all legendary now thanks to Hyadain and his awesome song about them on Youtube.

Agreed. I think Gilgamesh may have been one of the ones that were "confirmed" for a while, then questioned. But I'm not sure, I might have just dreamt it. But I believe that Gilgy needs at least some sort of reference. He's too important to the FF franchise not to be referenced in some way or another.

I'd not thought abotu Cait Sith as a summon before, but now that you mention it, I think it would be quite kool. Homage to another character, without them having to make him playable. The more summons like this, the better.

If Bahamut isn't one of the summons in the game, I will officially consider Square-Enix as having gone out of their mind, and being pretty dumb at that, he should make it in it as a summon by default...isn't it the most popular summon?

All I know is, it is definitely my favourite one. :P I hope it is in it. What playable characters are there anyways? I know my most wanted character didn't make it (which is par for the course in FF games... >_<), but who did?

Bahamut will likely be a summon I am to guess. He is the king of summons after all, and the only one really to appear in all FF games.

Also, what character is it you had in mind?

I'm sure all of the FF Veteran summons will be there (Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Bahamut etc.)

I really want an updated char list. It seems just like Main Villain/Main char Battle.

Red XIII/Nanaki. >_< I knew it would never happen, but I wished he'd be playable, he just has been cut out of so many FFVII games it is not funny. -_-

A little different, I'd say. More like what I think Ivysaur is to Brawl, it is the one and only quadruped, but that means that four legged characters could indeed be considered to be made as playable characters in Smash Bros. games. :P

Fixed
Well not in every single one, and always a summon. But yeah as both summon and reference. (i.e FFXII Bahamut is a fortress)

I'm sure all of the FF Veteran summons will be there (Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Bahamut etc.)
Not exactly, In this FF, somehow most summons are enemies or summons who aren't that much famous such as those. And there was 70 summons confirmation, including: Knights of the Round, Gilgamesh, etc... But that information disappeared. (much probably was a fake source or rumours)

red xiii might be to dissidia to what gon was to tekken with the the height differences
This is not Namco, its Square Enix. And Red XII? he isn't a major character such as Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith, Zack, etc. He has no rivalry/conflicts with Sephiroth (main villain) if with any character at all, and thats all this game is about; A Hero and a Villain and there must be a strong rivalry between both. so... NO!

Shantotto is a exception (so far) as she doesn't have a know Villain. But who knows? this week all will be revealed.
