Fayths are the statues where souls are imprisioned, as they are summoned as aeons. But heres my question. How are the fayths created? i eman, we see the statues and everything. but a good example is bahamut fayth. Its like the spirit is a lil kid but the statue has got a preety musculed arm. And why every single statue has got his backs turned to us instead of the face?

The Fayths were once real people 1000 years prior to the story of FFX. After Sin destroyed the real Zanarkand, Yu Yevon took the souls of those who had died during Zanarkand's destruction and imprisoned them in the temple's statues where they became Fayths

Regarding the statues themselves, they are modelled on both the Aeon and the Fayth joied together to symbolise unity, which is why Bahamut's statue has a "muscled arm".

As for the reason why the statues only show a figure from behind: I have no real reason to give except that's just the way they were designed by whoever at SE designed them. You can't say they don't look good, after all.

Yeah. The fayth is basically souls of the past trapped into statue forms. Ifrit for example's soul is a normal looking man...yet his aeon is a big fuck off demon that controls fire. The statues simply symbolis this

As for the statues having their backs turned...no clue. One theory- Thats the posish they were trapped in

While that explanation explains most of them, one Fayth appears to be an exception. How did Seymour's mother become a Fayth? Unless the Guado have exceptionally long lifespans, meaning Seymour's mother and father got together over 1000 years ago, his mother could have only been a Fayth for about 20-30 years...

That's because some people willingly gave up their lives to become a Fayth, so that the Summoners would be able to set out on a pilgrimage and use the Final Aeon to defeat Sin.

I'm not familiar with the story behind Seymour's mother. I know that she is Anima's Fayth, and I know that she took Seymour away from his father to Baaj Temple for whatever reason when he was a child.

Seymour's mother and father couldn't have gotten together over 1000 years ago because Seymour's mother was human.

i'm at the end of the game getting all my celestial weapons and such so i think i can explain it :P

1000 years ago, during the great machina war against (real)Zanarkand and Bevelle, the lead summoner of Zanarkand, Yevon, saw that the summoners were no match against Bevelle's machina. So, a choice 6 or 9 people volunteered to give their lives to become fayth to keep summoners strong.

another few thousand or so became the fayth to summon Tidus' Zanarkand. (you can see them all in a wall at the top of Mount Gagazet...steady a summonin). any way.

Seymour's mama chose to become Anima's fayth just like a guardian has to become a fayth for the final summoning. she wanted to protect him from bullys and such. all that is explained when you receive Anima's fayth from Baaj.

the only aeons from the original Zanarkand were

Valefore, Ifrit, Ixion, Shiva, Bahamut, Yojimbo, and the Magus Sisters.

Yojimbo's fayth was stolen from an unknown temple whenever ago.

there probably isn't any reason behind the backwards facing statues.

Now that i think of it, if you remeber the cutscenes u see with seymour and his mother in zanarkand, i starting to believe if anima wasnt the final aeon of seymour. if not, why would they travel to zanarkand?

Perhaps seymour did get his final aeon, it explains why his Anima is so powerful and howcome he knows all about sin. His desire to become sin could have prevented him from summoning his final aeon against sin.

I can't believe no one thought to do this earlier, but I did a bit of research.

Seymour's mother became a Fayth when she offered her life to Yunalesca in the hopes of her son being accepted by the Guado.

It wasn't until Seymour accepted Anima in Zanarkand did it's statue go to Baaj Temple where Seymour and his mother were exiled during Seymour's childhood. Seymour and his mother were exiled from Guadosalam because the Guado saw Seymour as an abomination because his mother was human.

I know that the Fayth were really peoples, however I have a question if they were people then why a specific people became Aeons? I mean if they were from Zanarkand 1000 years ago then shouldn't be more than those Aeons?

There most probably are more Aeons.

Look at a map of Spira, huge place, yet you probably don't even see a tenth of it in the game.

Hasn't this already been answered? A person volunteers to sacrifice themself and become a Fayth in order for the aeon of that fayth to be summoned.

i p.much tried to explain that seymour's mother became his fayth just so he could stop being bullied...

guess it worked.

i wish they would have explained the backstories of some of the fayths better since anima was the only one they got into.

valefor-lil girl...what about her?
ifrit- young guy...and?
ixion-nother random guy
shiva-lady...that's it
bahamut-seems to be the main fayth..but why? why is he so impt? why is he the one talking to tidus??
yojimbo-why is his fayth such a cheap son of a bitch?
magus sisters-only one of them talked...

i just wish there was more emphasis on WHY they became fayths besides to protect other summoners.

IF you think of it, the xploring of spira waas ridiculous. Like when Sin casts graviton and u see spira from the space, its huge. so why do we explore so little of the game. maybe its just me, but if spira existed, i think that there would be much more aeons

there probably were, but as people have stated before, we only play in a small part of it.
if you think about it, some summoners started in different places, so they get different aeons at different times. for example: yuna is from besaid so getting valefor was cake. but donna is from kilika so she started with ifrit. the purpose of getting the aeons is to sort of 'train' the summoner to be prepared to receive the final aeon from yunalesca. they never said which aeons and in what order, or how many. just until you were ready. im sure if we were given the option, we could never have gotten ixion and just gotten anima in his place. why go all over the world to get aeons when there's 5-10 good ones not too far away?? there were probably a good number of summoners coming from other parts of spira with different aeons, but they all had to come to zanarkand...which was just closer to yuna and co. than other ppl...

so the fact of the matter is, spira might have 1000 different aeons, but since we're only in the small, necessary part that pertains to yuna and her life, the other ones dont matter.
