Does anybody have a favourite seasonal event?
For example Starlight Celebration (Christmas), Moonfire Faire (summer), The Rising (anniversary of ARR), Hatching-tide (Easter), and so on?
For me, I guess it really does depend on the year. Sometimes the events are just simple fetch quests, etc, but sometimes they have mini-games that are a lot of fun. I loved it when the Christmas/Starlight events included carol singing mini-games, for example. And the year when Moonfire Faire included a temporary obstacle course constructed off the coast of Costa Del Sol was a lot of fun.
But I also appreciate The Rising. The quests themselves for The Rising aren't that great (at least not this year) but I appreciate the idea behind it. A festival to celebrate the beginning of ARR and to pay respects to the OG FFXIV and to imagine paying respects to the people who died in the calamity. And the personalised messages from Yoshida to the player (via some fourth-wall breaking) are always a pretty special touch.
