This thread should be changed to: Favorite Bands That Never Ever Appeared On MTV.
"Unpopular" seems to be too broad a category apparently to some people's definitions. Fall Out Boy? My Chemical Romance? Please, they've had too much dirty limelight time on MTV already.
Considering what I've been hearing through suggestion from 'Escape The Fate' and 'I Am Ghost', I kinda like some of their stuff and 'Mew' (no, not the Poke'mon) has done a good number for me as well.
Aside from them, let's go a bit further and we can get 'Kyo' (not the vocalist of 'Dir En Grey', but the French band), 'Boom Boom Satellites' (Japanese duo), 'Quruli', D'espairsRay (my personal ultimate favorite), Goatbed, God Module, Hocico, Infected Mushroom, Phantasmagoria. Not all of these are technically 'bands' that play music through drums, bass, and guitar as their main instruments.

I like a couple of songs by DragonForce... Dawn of a New World and Starfire. 
I also enjoy some music by Barlow Girl, and I know no one who listens to them. Never Alone and She Walks Away are my favourite songs by them.
Also, here at least, Nickelback isn't really popular... I know only a couple of people who like them. Far Away, Rockstar, Photograph, Someday, How You Remind Me, Savin' Me, If Everyone Cared... All great songs. Oh, and let's not forget Hero or Believe It Or Not.
