Well I've tried to get an Ultima Blade, that failed - Poaching 35+ Adamantite Turtles is not my idea of fun for Adamantite.

So I'm in the End game area called the great crystal - Located under Giruvegan - I've ran across one! I mean one treasure chest and it resides next to the gate stone capricorn (one zone over) - I'm not sure if this is the chest. I've picked it up 4 times or so and only been able to get gil an knot of rusts.. I haven't tried to put on my Diamond armlets...

So if anyone has been able to get the Excalliber, lemme know what area and what chest it might be.
 
Found an Excalibur also

I also found my Excalibur down in the Great Crystal area. Was getting pissed off doing the Ultima esper quest, getting lost and making my own map on the paper. It was in a treasure chest surrounded by the horse mobs, if I recall. Also, i did NOT have a diamon armlet equipped. Happy hunting :D

ps... Excalibur hits for 9999 on pretty much anything Holy Weak. And about 7500 for all other mobs (minus bosses, they are about 5000). I'm level 83 atm.
 
Well Ultima was cake, but finding these horses you are referring to ... I have no clue! I have tried to find Omega , but clicking on the the Stones with a timer is starting to become mind numbing.
 
If you found Ultima...

If you found Ultima, the treasure chest wasn't far. It is near one of the way stones enroute, # 16 perhaps. Sorry I can't help more, that whole area is a mess.
 
Hi all, new here.

I, too, have been trying to get Excalibur. I know exactly where it is, and found a map online of the Great Crystal.

The Excalibur treasure chest is supposed to be in the treasure room (marked with a "T") directly under where it says, "Map 2" on the map.

The map has some errors in labeling, but for the most part, it's fairly accurate.

If you don't get the sword the first time, you're supposed to go back 3 screens (not 2 for monsters) and it'll reappear.

I've tried nearly 50 times now with a diamond armlet equipped and haven't gotten squat.

BUT, my question is.....do I have to kill the horses in that area before tryng the chest (which is also trapped by the way)? Or can I just head in, click on it real quick, and make a hasty retreat with the sword in hand?

I can kill those things easily as my main 3 characters are all 76+, but it's much more easy to use the "Cheney" method of "cut and run".

I just figured that with the diamond armlet on, I should have gotten that sword by now.

Hey Chisu..
This is the 3rd time I’ve tried to post this. This is the way to Omega
  1. Start at XVI, go straight, activate Libra, and open Libra 1st.
  2. Get to Capricorn, activate it and go open Capricorn 1st .
  3. Activate Virgo, and go open Virgo 2nd.
  4. Go back and activate Capricorn
  5. Open Capricorn 2nd.
  6. Get to Aquarius & activate it.
  7. Open Aquarius 1st.
  8. Activate Taurus
  9. Open Taurus 1st.
  10. Go save your game.
  11. Go kill Omega.
Just remember to use the map it totally works.. and just stay on paths that you’ve opened…

Heh, yep, I was able to get Excalliber some time last week. It was just as the directions stated in my other post I made.

How many times did it take you to get Excalibur?
I've tried like 30 times and all I get is gill either 2000+, 4000+, or just one gil, still no sword. Any advice?

I got it last night following his directions.

And I found out the answer I was looking for. First of all, cast float on the entire party and kill thos shardonir's. Then hit the chest in the center. If it disappears, go back 3 screens to reset it.

If it's still there after you get gil out of it, then the Excalibur is in it.

I've tried that like 30 times, kill the beasts, cast float, get the contents of the chest, which has been gil, then go back three sections, then go back and a new chest is there, and again...... it's only got gil in it.. am I missing a step or something?
Just can't get it to show up.. I haven't finished the game just yet, I'm trying to get everything done before going to the end, this and Omega I think are all I have left except for a few missing in my Clan Primer Beast list.
 
Just make ABSOLUTELY SURE that the chest isn't still there after you get it the first time.

You get so used to them disappearing after you get them, that you might not be realizing it's there.

It'll be in the same exact place, like you never touched it at all. That's one thing that I'm kicking myself for, because I think I could have gotten it sooner.
 
Wait a minute, this is so simple...but it's kind of hard to explain.

When people talk of going back three screens to reset, that's ONLY IF the chest disappears after you open it. If you open it and it doesn't disappear, the Excalibur is in it.

Thanks for all the input, I'm happy to report that after many hour of hunitng for this sword I finally got it last night. Not sure if this is why but this is what happened for anyone else who might be struggling to get this sword.
1) Went back and forth to the platform multilple times, equipped with Diamond armlet thing..
2) Ended up having about a 56 chain of those annoying horse beasts.
3)Went to the platform got gil again, went back 3 platforms , the third one being with all the undead things or whatever, anyway, went to midway point on this platform, no further, while using flee... turned around and went back to the platfrom with the single horse.. then to the platform with the 2 horses, down the ramp then cast float on party..
4) I missed the fact that Penello was too far away for float to be cast on her, so I went and killed the one horse on the platform with the trap on it, and killed the other two horses that came down to the platform, then went to the chest thing.. wouldn't you know it Penello tripped the mine.. but wait, I got a knot of rust, and then another treasure was there....
Drumroll please........
Excalibur.....
Yipeee...
So I went to save, wow that was a pain to find that sword... Then went on to kill Omega, that was pretty easy..
