In a lot of games, including Final Fantasy, at some point in the story their will be an event battle, which is basically a battle which you are meant to lose, or you'll win no matter what. An example would be the final battle in Final Fantasy VII, which you can't avoid winning. Usually these battles are used to increase the drama or tension if you're meant to lose, and a dramatic climax to the game in the case of VII.

What I want to know is, do you love or hate event battles, and do you have any event battles in your games that you like?

I like those sometimes. When I know, I am supposed to lose, it kinda takes the fun out of the fight, like on Legend of Dragoon. I always try to win those fights anyway, but I know my efforts are in vain.

I remember when I first started playing Final Fantasy games, I didn't know there were supposed to be fights where you were supposed to lose. It pissed me off a little when the enemy was insanely strong, and I kept thinking, "WTF?".

I don't mind them so much anymore, and I still fight the enemy even though I know I'm supposed to lose.

Yeah. :ryan: I love those types of battles were you're meant to lose, but on a new Game Plus you can beat them. Tis fun. :D It makes me hate the enemy I'm fighting and relish beating them later on.

Thanks for the move, Hal!

I don't like them when i dont KNOW im supposed to lose, I hate wasting items in battles like that, then when I die I rage..... then I see the game carries on and Im just -__-

Actually, I just don't liek them full stop. They annoy me. Ive foundmyself up agains some enemy or other on more than one occassion thinking Im either underlevelled or Im not supposed to win this battle.... and then Ive gotten a game over

THEY PISS ME OFF

Especially the wasted items part, that really really fucks me off, if I EVER waste and elixer on one of those battles Id turn the fucker off and start again

ROFL. I ave to admit, battles like that are quite annoying, when you use valuable items only to find out you don't need to win. But it really makes you hate the enemy and enjoy killing them later, right? :wacky:

It just irritates me 8F

There's NOTHING worse than the frustration of not being able to hit the enemy because youre too busy trying to keep yourself alive only to find out that you wasn't mean to win anyway :rage:

In the game I'm playing right now, Wild Arms 5, there are about 6 fights you're meant to lose, where you can beat the enemies later. Basically, if I come up against a character that looks human, or if there's a one on one duel, my party's meant to lose. I love that. It's epic.
