Enterbrain – FFXIII will sell over 500,000 PS3s in Japan in December

Enterbrain boss Hamamura Hirokazu has told the Japanese press that he expects December’s release of FFXIII to result in the sale of 500,000 PS3 consoles in Japan.

That’s serious shit, Ringo.

Hirokazu added that the recently announced PS3 price cut will also be a driving factor for sales figures that month.

If achieved, the figure would represent a 250 percent increase from December 2008. FFXIII release for PS3 on December 17 in Japan, followed by PS3 and 360 releases in the west early next year.

This isn't suprising, as FF has a pretty hardcore fanbase. It also conisides as you say with the recent drop in price, but also, as with the PSone and PS2, most people (using my friends as a microeconomy) didn't buy them straight away, but waited a few years so that a) they were cheaper, b) had a larger variety of games and c) so that the programmers had got to grips with the hardware and the games were better.

But yeah, Sony need to pay series hommage if this comes off!

I'm basically waiting for FFXIII before I buy a PS3 as well(or at least wait a while until I do at least) so I'm sure there are a couple of like-minded people out there
