After you defeat godo in the wutai pagoda, on the way down, if you talk to shake, he says something like "You say there's some unusual materia where the underground pipe is?! But first you gotta get it from a monster and unless you use your head, you won't be able to do it." Anyone know what this is referring to?

It's probaly that cave, but the cave is on the Da-Chao mountain....

Then scroll down to the place where you get that sentence.

I believe he is talking about the Underwater Materia. Not sure though.

Just morph a Ghost Ship in the underwater reactor located in Junon, which will turn into a Guide Book. Take the item to the Kalm Traveler and he'll give you the Underwater Materia.

well i knew about the underwater materia already and have got it, but maybe that is what he's referring to. But the materia isnt actually in the underground pipe though is it, its in the kalm traveller's house...

My first thoughts were Underwater materia. There are ghost ships in the underwater path beneath Junon. You have to morph one of them and give the item you get to the man in Kalm.

It might be the scale thing. Like dragon or serpent scale you find on your return to midgar. It extinguishes the fires in the Da Chao mountains :S
