Ending/restarting question

I am currently in the process of playing through FFXII the first time. I recently finished getting the dawn star. In some games when you finish the game you are given the option of restarting with all your equipment and experiance.

My question is, does this game give you that option. When you finish are you given the option of restarting or do you have to start a completly new game?
 
you gotta start a completely new game. no transferring any old items, weapons, experience, nothing.

^ That only really applied to FFX-2. Doing that to every other game would be too easy..hence why it shouldn't have happened to FFX-2 - made things a lot easier, as if it already wasn't, second time round.

actually this did also apply to DoC. It didn't make it all that easy...

Yeah, I think they should jam pack the game with sidequests...maybe even a second disk full of sidequests...just so you can goof around after the game has been beaten. It would be cool to hang out with, talk to, and battle some of the remaining characters. No story line, but just sidequests. it would be cool. cuz i always just wanna walk around and check out the worlds after you accomplished your goal.

When will they understand, that replay value is what the gamers want?! This is totally unfair. Yes, give replay value to the crappiest final fantasy ever but not to the best ones ever. That is bewelshit! For Great Justice, we attack Square at dawn! We will demand that all their future games need REPLAY VALUE!!!
 
what are you all talking about i mean whats the point in roaming around with nothing to do. you get the storyline,you get side quests and done you have completed the game and thats that
