Employers and facebook

Messaging and poking still let you see other people's profiles. I tried both recently >.< One was just me sending a message to someone I knew from high school letting her know who I was after requesting her as a friend. I was unable to see any of her profile before sending the message but was able to after.

nah not facebook themselves. I'm sure you could pay someone to do so though. Or just having someone computer savy at your work could easily get right into your profile. When I originally got my job at Kohls, one of the first things they told me in kind of a threatening manner to was to be careful what I put on facebook and myspace because they will see it. I was a little afraid to start work after being told that but I needed the job and my facebook had nothing I wouldn't want an employer to see.

To me, Facebook is a more personal thing ya know? Just because you have a facebook doesn't mean you're boss/co-workers etc should be able to hold that against you and, then later on fire you for it/ get you in trouble for it.

I think your personal life shouldn't interfere with your business life. There should be a balance between the two. Unfortunately, society (proves it from the first post) Doesn't see it that way. I mean, if they aren't doing anything illegal what's the big deal?

But then again like some have mentioned, simply don't add your co-workers/ boss if you're so afraid of getting 'caught'

Back to the original post, I mean it may seem unprofessional if she were the one drinking etc but, the fact that it was someone she doesn't know? WTF.? :ffs:

It's not such a bad thing. My school principal revealed to us that the school goes so far as to reprimand and have meetings with the parents with regards to the things that the students post on Facebook (kissing, lewd behavior and other stuff like that)

In some ways it's alright (like when the students put what school are they from or if they're doing such behavior in uniform or with the school emblem on them) but I think that they really shouldn't go so far with the other students who don't link themselves in any way to the school.
