I think I read somewhere that it was possible to defeat a T-Rexaur by just equipping elemental/status junctions onto their weapons very early in the game. I think it goes on to state that very very powerful characters can be created very early on.

But doesn't the junction system rely on different magic the player accumulates?
And considering the lack of rather good magic on Balamb, I've seriously doubted it.
Unless there are some other ways to do this. Get magic, better weapons, very early on in the game, i.e. before the Galbadia tangent.

Is this even possible?

It is possible to beat a T-Rex early in the game if you can blind him and your HP is high enough to take the random hit he'll score even while blind.

Actually, my second time through the game, I was doing exactly that, leveling up Squall & Quistis to 100 before entering the Fire Cave. When I was around level 40 or so, I went into the forest just outside Balamb Garden and ran into a T-Rex. In short, I blinded him and just kept pounding on him until he was dead.

Also, It is possible to have a very powerful characters early on. I took me the better part of 10 hours to level the two of them up to 100, but as they leveled up, the monster in the area would have the higher level magic to draw, (Fire Fira, Firaga, etc...) making your characters very powerful early on.

That's right! I remember during something very similar. I did what you did, but with Squall, Zell and Selphie at the beginning of the first SeeD mission.

Easiest way to get a powerful early party ( takes some time tho) is to get the refine abilities of your GF's including the card one Quetzalcoatl has then you can easily stock up 100 blizzagas, thundagas and waters which give a huge boost early game. I always train at the shore off balamb killing those fastitocalon fishes :d.
I actually always do this and I have early high magic ^^, always learn the refining abilities first and start refining those cards!

Yup it´s possible! You just have to draw Cure, Blizzard and Thunder from the monsters around Balamb and then you can obtain fish fins from the fasticolons near the beach and by using Ice-refine ability (which Shiva can learn) you can corvent the fish fins into water magic.

The you just have to train a bit and get Shiva to a good level and go and fight T-Rexaurs who give Dino Bones which you can refine into Quake magic which gives you high hp!:)

Thanks for the tips you guys! :D

That really helps as I'm planning to replay this game through after beating it again. But this time I'll try to get it done right.
And, of course, beat the game at higher levels.

I just typed a long explanation, but the Quick Reply messed up and didnt post it, so now I'm half-assing it.

Once you get Siren, learn Status Junction. Equip it on Squall, with Sleep (which can be drawn from the Grats). Now every attack will put the Rexaur to sleep, as he is 100% vulnurable to it, and Squall never misses an attack with the 255% accuracy. However, if you can learn Elemental Junction as well, the battle wont be as long. Just junction Blizzard/ara/aga (along with sleep) to Squalls attack, and go to town.

T-Rexaur is easy to beat early on. Because its weakness is ice, just equip Blizzard to your elemental junction for your attack to give your physical attacks that little extra edge. If you can blind it too, then that helps a lot. And obviously Shiva is a great help too (can take off about 3000 - 3500 with a decent boost).

I've tried blinding it and icing it before, but the thing's HP is way too much to handle. And it's 'tail attack' basically wiped me out the first time I fought one.
I haven't really gotten the elemental junction that early on.....so maybe I'll try that.
Either I die or I die from boredom trying to beat just one.
Mind, I have beaten lots, but on higher levels and with more powerful spells.

Thanky. :D

i just get high level shiva and reasonable health for squall (1000/2000) and just let rip with boost for shiva it takes time but it is possible

Speaking of being powerful early. I actually trained my Squall up until LvL 100 at the beginning of the game in the Training Centre. After that I could Draw all the powerful magics from the monsters. This did cause a bit of a problem (I remember mostly from The Brothers GF, Boss) because the earlier bosses were much stronger due to Squall being at a higher level, and because my other members weren't they kept dieing faster (it's about the only time the game possed a challenge). I don't remember how I had the time but I did. My attacks, GF's and such were taking around 3000-4000 before I even set out for Balamb!!

Actually, after the dance scene, you can get blind from a boss. Granaldo, he's a big bee that is in the training center.

At the start of the game, on world map there are fish by the ocean called Fastitocalon. They drop Fish fin which can refine to Water magic. Water also helps with junction. Not a good spell for junction, but it's a good spell to start off in the beginning to junction for more HP. Quetzacoatl has HP-J, it only takes 50AP to level. While your farming magic you should be leveling HP-J.

i dont relli think that you can get an early powerful party unless u spend ages training and i dont relli have the nerve to spend hours training at one palce i dont know about anyone else
