In this complex universe, I think it's possible that dreams are more than just thoughts/feelings/ideas that occur in the brain during sleep. One subject I find interesting is perspective - do you generally view yourself through first-person or third-person during a dream? Third-person is interesting because in real life you view things in first-person.
However, on the other hand, dreams can't make themselves reality. If you want to make your dream a reality, you have to wake up first and try to, if you must, do so. So dreams and reality are separate.
To me, dreams are a simulation created by the brain. One that isn't that much different than a video game simulation.
