Live action DBZ movie.

Is supposed to be released this year. I'm a bit dissapointed that it's focusing on the Demon King Piccolo saga, and not the Saiyan saga, since a live action Vegeta VS Goku fight would have been epic...if it's done correctly. I'm worried that it's going to look fake and pathetic =/

I don't know any of the other cast members from anywhere, but Spike from Buffy (I forget his real name) is playing King Piccolo.

So this -

Piccolo is one of the main things I'm worried about, he's either going to look amazing...or totally fake

=/

=O James Marsters is playing Picolo?! That's awesome! But...I'm not sure if he can pull it off. Piccolo is a very serious character.

I wouldn't mind seeing this. I was a DBZ fan back then, so it'd be interesting to see how well they can manage this.

I hope it isn't a disappointment like DOA was for me. I think the story though would receive a larger response if they did it on the Saiyan Saga because most people even if they aren't big DBZ fans would probably be more interested in that.

I agree but they should make a trilogy and like Naruto Shipuuden show a scene of the begining of Goku's and Vegeta's fight and then start the Picolo part and continue to the end....

As much as I want this to be epic, I think it will only end up being epic PHAIL.

*Le sigh* why live action?! *hits head against wall*

I agree. This movie won't hit it off very well. DBZ is just too fast, too high-maintenance for a GOOD live-action film. They build up so much hype, but really, the movie won't live up to the hype.

Think about it. Even in DB, let alone Z, there was "Super Movement," where they would literally disappear and reappear behind them. Live action will never be able to reproduce that even marginally, and there's so much of it, that the rendering and everything would take days to do for a single scene, let along a whole movie. Factor in the actual acting and rehearsals and stuff, this movie would take about 5 years to make.

Even if we were to look at the Picollo Saga, let alone the Frieza or Cell (god forbid BUU Saga), the speed would be impossible to accurately reproduce, even with CG. Look at the CG for Advent Children, look how much effort went into that! How long did THAT take them, around 4 years since I'd heard about it, prolly longer. DB/Z is just too unrealistic right now.

Yah, I've been hearing about this. I am hoping it'll surprise me.

As of right now, I am not getting my hopes up. =/. Going from a cartoon to a live action can be quite diffulcult. So, we'll see what happens. lol. I still will see it either way. So, yeah.

I'm not really looking forward to this. I'm happy to see Dragonball get some attention, but this is gonna be hard to watch.

I think I'll just watch straight through DBZ for the 100th time and wait until February 19th to hit. DBZ season 4 on DVD. Yippee!

...live action DBZ. Haha.

Dragon Ball live action film

I read about this in my latest Shojan Jump and I cannot believe it. Im not impressed by the looks of the cast and live action is not the best in my opinion. You may think different and hey, thats fine lol.

The fact James Marsters is playing Piccolo makes me lark. Im hoping its all a massive mickey-take, but Im not so sure. I mean Chow Yung Fat is appearing as Master Roshi. Its just madness lol.

Doesn't look too good so far. I agree a live action movie is not the way to go with the Dragonball franchise. The sheer power of the characters and all their energy in that will be hard to capture on film.

Also... Goku just doesnt look right to me.

Also.. Where is Krillen?!

I'll admit now though, that I have only watched the Dragonball Z anime, and not the first Dragonball one, so I don't know how things were in that. But wasn't Goku a kid for most of the first Dragonball series?

Yeah, both Goku, Krillin and Chi Chi were children and Bulma and Yamcha were teenagers. I think Goku's hair looks mega retarded. Harsh word to use, but it looks ridiculous. Its going to bomb in a very bad way.

I've been saying this since I saw the first few pics last year...it looks horrid. Firstly, Goku never went to High School. The chick playing Bulma refuses to dye her hair blue (But they found that ok since she put blue streaks in her hair). Master roshi has hair on his head but no hair on his chin.
There is no Krillen...and the movie seems to be trying to take itselfs to serious. It would have been better off if they tried to make it it an over the top 'comedy' type movie like Kung Fu Hustle instead of what they are doing.

It shouldn't have been live action, no matter what they are going to fall short and disapoint.

Woah... woah... woah...

Emmy Rossum...
please, don't be Bulma! She's too good for that role. :(
That makes me uber sad. I hope this movie ends up better than how I'm imagining it.

And just super LULZ at the fact that "Spike" is Piccolo...

If the casting's any indicator, the movie'll be abysmal. What's the deal with Goku's hair? They'd be better off not styling it at all.

I'll end up watching out of curiousity, but I'm sure I'll be doing some cringing. Not because it'll be butchering Dragonball, but because it just plain looks horrible.

Gah... This realy does look terrible then...

If that picture posted is actually a pic of Emmy as Bulma in what she will look like in the film then that is terrible.

Also, with the lack of Krillin (one of my favourite characters) this movie realy, realy, realy isn't impressing me.

It's probably gonna be a turkey, big time, at least to Dragonball fans, but I'll still see it out of curiousity.

I heard that they were hoping for it to be a trilogy... Anyone else heard this?

I can't remember where I read it, but it was on the net somewhere.

A trilogy? I have yet to hear that rumor. Hopefully it isn't true. A lot probably depends on the success of this movie. If that's the case, then I wouldn't bet on it becoming a trilogy.

It seems a bit of an odd franchise to make into a film, and realy I cant see it going very well.
The special effects department will have a hard time, near impossible task of doing the various light and energy effects seen in it.

Also... If they are doing a trilogy, what would they do? Move onto Dragonball Z? If so, then what sagas? As there realy is too much even in that for a single movie. It's crazy realy.

I agree that this is probably been taken too seriously. An epic style kung fu film would suit it better if it HAD to be made as a live action movie, but even that would probably not be right.
